If you have prior Spanish experience. This class will come very easy to you. The grading is fair, Extra credit is available and she gives you many opportunities to fix your mistakes. I dont know why people think she favors students because she seems to be very helpful to all students in my class.

This class is really hard. You have to be on top of your game before entering. Not a class you can take lightly. Show up to EVERY class, or you will get behind. Study really hard, you will have LOTS of homework. She's a good teacher, you just have to be willing to do the work.

She was a great teacher and wants everyone to pass the class. I didn't want to put the time into learning a language so I dropped but she is a good teacher who works hard to make sure your passing.

although I know conversational spanish, I took this for grammatical and spelling. She expects a lot from students. Work hard, show interest, show up on time and do all the homework and she'll be fair. I learned far more than I thought I would. Can't wait to take 102

She makes the class challenging, but it is still possible to pass. Attendence is highly important. She is a good teacher, but you have to be willing to put in a lot of time and effort to learn and do well. I had her for my last two semesters of spanish. 202 was definately a lot harder than 201 however, 202 didn't seem to be as much homework.

Please do not be fooled by these other ratings. I was very poor at spanish coming into 102 (I did not take 101 in college) and I did the homework and did not get behind, and I got an A+. It was not impossible to earn a good grade, but it was not really easy. She will give you extra credit and help you with any question you have. I learned a lot

VERY RUDE! I had 3 years of spanish before this class and loved it. I would ask questions and she acts like you should already know the answer. She is not friendly and favors students who are better at spanish than others. I ended up dropping the class because of her unhelpfullness and her rudeness. if you must take spanish go with Julia perez.

I took SPan 101 with her and ended up dropping it. I am an A student and spent roughly 20 hours a week studying but was still struggling. When I asked her for help she was rude and disrespectful. When I asked for help she gave me serious attitude for no reason. BAD PROF!

Expect a lot of homework. She has a thing about being tardy, so don't be tardy. An excellent teacher, she expects you to work hard...but to be honest...you have to work hard in order to learn another language. She gives extra credit for attendance and allows you to drop one test score... she is fair.

Very Rude teacher. I had her and i felt intimidated because my Spanish skills were not as advanced as others. I even asked for extra help and what I can do and she was very rude about it. I ended up dropping the class because of her atitude towards me.

There is A LOT of work to do, but its college, and a language, if it were not for all the homework, I never would have learned as much as I did. She is very understanding and as long as you are willing to try, she will help you out. Very easy to talk to!

Elena Garcia is a very good teacher. She gave us a lot of homework everynight, but there was no way for us to learn all the material without doing worksheets. I liked doing them half of the time anyway. She also did a good job at making class fun.

attendence is required. she takes off 3% of your final grade for each absence after 4 absences. easy to screw up with absences.
