Comment:
Elsey's class online is extremely unorganized and tough to follow, she responds to emails but not right away. Material is easy to complete but provided resources and teachings are all over the map. She expects far too much from a 100 class when it comes to assigned reading. Kind woman but needs to work on her online teaching presence.

Absolutely the most ridiculous class I have ever taken. As a 4th year in a 1st year course, definitely thought this would be cake. BOY was I wrong. Dead links from 2005, zero organization, zero lenience, multiple contradictory requests for the same assignment, random and specific requests buried deep within course messages.. TAKE IT FROM US, AVOID

i don't even know what to say. she is clearly a master in her field and expects you to be the same despite this being a first year course. I'm in my final year and this is one of the most homework heavy/ reading heavy courses I've been apart of. would not recommend. not good at teaching/conveying her subject.

I'm usually not so critical of professors, but this is necessary so others won't take her class. She is extremely disorganized, her tests are extremely hard with obscure questions, and won't listen to student's concerns. Extremely hard course for a first-year. AN ABUNDANCE OF READING ASSIGNMENTS!! And she adds more as she goes.

I've never written one of these, but this course has been a nightmare. Very unorganized, lack of structure, and an insane amount of readings/videos that are added without notice throughout the week. I am not sure what readings/videos are required and which are extra. Tests are 15 mins long and ask very specific or vague questions. Dead links.

This online class is VERY disorganized and asks too much from a first year class. There is far too much reading to do and many videos to watch and then tests are only 15 questions and you must know obscure details. I feel like I spend most of my time trying to keep on top of my readings as she posts in so many different sections. GONG SHOW! AVOID!!

There is such little organization that it makes it hard to know what you actually NEED to read/watch. She posts things in so many different places that I spend most of my time looking rather than learning! I know others who have dropped her class and taken it with someone else and it's much better! Please please please avoid her if you can.

I DO NOT recommend taking Dr, Elsey's Online class. It has NO organization or structure. The announcements/learning material is all over the place. The H/W questions are long and sometime vague, and no due dates posted in the syllabus just an announcement a week before. She also requires that you buy and read Her own book. Be prepared to read!

I have never written one of these but I feel in this case it is necessary, Elsey's expectations for readings are ASTRONOMICALLY HIGH for a first year course. Extremely difficult to stay on top of readings with terrible disorganization and tests require retention of all material. Don't take this class unless you are PASSIONATE(!) about anthropology.

Completely disorganized gong show. I can't drop this class because I need to fulfill the graduation requirement for intercultural engagement. For the 1st year course, the workload is EXTREMELY heavy and she expects you to do A LOT in the current environment while she is COMPLETELY DISORGANIZED for online teaching.

She is incredibly disorganized. She doesn't care to update any of her learning material as evident by the dead links she shares. The syllabus isn't even dated correctly, it says Fall 2020 when we are in the winter semester. One lecture is even dated as Fall 2016! She also expects way more than any 100 level prof I've ever encountered. Just bad.

She's such a tough grader and expects way too much from a 100-level class. She expects you to know every tiny detail, but she doesn't explain much. Her online notes are disorganized. She had absolutely zero compassion during the start of COVID. She even wanted us to keep working on her class while the school was closed and all classes were paused.

Masses of reading. Lecture notes full of links (many dead), typos, errors. Weekly 'homework' questions to answer in discussion forums but very little feedback, if any. Final assignment due at time of final test so got nothing but a grade. I love this subject but was overwhelmed with the volume of reading and vague direction.

Being an online class, it's important to be organized. This is something I didn't feel Elsey had. Our weekly notes weren't always updated, the expectations weren't clear. Very disorganized. Do not take if you need if you need clear guidelines. Books were interesting for the most part, but i could have learned the same by picking up the books myself

Excessive weekly readings required outside the assigned textbook make this class very difficult. There are typically 3-4 emails a week with extra articles we are required to read. Homework assignments every week are expected to be like essays. She is unclear in her lectures and assignments. This class is more difficult than any other I've taken.

I am currently taking an online course and have found the course to be super over saturated. By giving us excessive readings (multiple textbooks), articles and videos I am finding myself not retaining any information. I would not recommend this prof. The concepts are unclear and having an in person test for an online course is not helpful.

I took her online and she was all over the place. She will assign homework and forget to attach MANDATORY links we have to study. Considering this is a 100 level introductory level course, her tests are VERY specific. I studied hard (im a third year student) and I swear there was stuff on the tests that weren't in our notebooks or lectures.
