Take this class if you can! Manis has tons of experience and knowledge in developmental & child learning psyc. This class is formatted like a capstone, so you'll be working with your student and writing reports for most of your assignments. Midterms are the only content-based work and they're easy, just use the textbook. Extra credit available too.

This class was hard but totally worth it. Make sure that you are ready to work for your grade!2 midterms, 3 reports, 1 presi, and a final report. Also, tutoring 2 times a week for 1 hour. The midterms take a long time and are graded tough so make sure you know your stuff! Reports are pretty easy but time-consuming. Easily one of my fav classes tho!

Professor Manis is absolutely amazing! He was so so understanding of life circumstances & covid. His tests are all based on his lecture slides but additional explanations from the text book are helpful. As long as you thoroughly study the slides you will get a good grade on his exams. He even wrote the text book so you are learning from the best!

The lectures can get a little long, but even online Prof. Manis gave us opportunities to work in groups and discuss. He explains things very clearly and in a straightforward way, and takes time to answer our questions thoughtfully!

Pretty easy class, lectures can be a little bit boring sometimes, but he's really nice and answers all questions as best as he can. All slides were uploaded to blackboard and he recorded all lectures. There was no cumulative final, just quizzes every 2-3 chapters.

Dr. Manis is honestly amazing. You use the book he wrote for class, which is a very easy read with funny personal anecdotes from his life and children. As long as you read the book and/or attend lectures you will do great.

LOVED HIM! Weekly quizzes instead of midterms/finals. You can also miss 5 classes without harm to your grade, study his book/lectures for a good grade on the quiz! Lectures can be long but is helpful for the upcoming quiz the following week. You get to raise a virtual child as well!

Professor Manis was amazing both inside and out of class. He WROTE THE TEXTBOOK ON DEVELOPMENTAL PSYCH! Super knowledgeable, but also very humble and caring. He encourages the class to share stories from their childhood, and shares his own experiences with his kids in relation to the lecture material. You also raise a virtual child, very fun!

Probably the NICEST professor I've had at USC. His syllabus is very clear about his expectations, he is very accommodating about absences, and gives 6 bonus points at the end of the semester if 85% of the class fills out the course evals. Overall very easy class - based entirely off the textbook he wrote. Definitely take for an easy A.

Manis is one of the sweetest professors I've ever had. He teaches from his own textbook (but in the most humble way). No midterms, no finals, just weekly quizzes that you can ace by reading the textbook chapter beforehand! I learned so much from this class, and it was never the kind of workload that overly stressed me out. TAKE HIM!!

Manis' voice is as smooth as the day is long. Absolute GOAT of a professor/man. A lot of reading for weekly quizzes, but content is interesting. Assignments are graded fairly. He will crack the occasional joke to keep the class engaged.

Manis is great. He makes his expectations clear, gives great study tools, and clearly loves what he teaches. The subject matter of his class is fascinating (who wouldn't want to learn about babies?)and comprehensive. He does give pop quizzes tho, so go to class! You'll probably end up enjoying it.

Professor Manis still stands as one of my favorite professors at USC. He is such a great teacher. His expectations for you are always set out clearly. Even though there is a lot of extra work for the class (online quizzes and readings), they are all very helpful for your learning. Tests aren't hard, and are MCQ! Highly recommend!

One of the most kind and caring professors I have ever had! He is so passionate about the subject and is truly dedicated to helping everyone learn. The weekly online reading quizzes and 4 in-class quizzes are nice because there were no big exams, and it forces you to stay on top of the reading. Definitely take his class if you have the chance!

He wrote the online textbook which is great and interactive. You raise a virtual kid which is fun. A lot of reading every week and in-depth in class quizzes every 3 weeks. Just study a lot before and it isn't too hard. Written reports due every few weeks but they are easy As. No big exams just lots of little ones

I loved Dr. Manis's class. Not only is he a really cool and relaxed guy, but his course is really interesting. He clearly wants you to know and understand the information and he wants you to enjoy learning it. Go to lecture for the participation points. They're interesting too, but very similar to the textbook. Love the guy, TAKE HIS CLASS!

Incredibly passionate and accomplished in his research area (he literally wrote the textbook we used). Very caring and reasonable, wants nothing more than to create the best learning experience possible for his students. No homework assignments aside from a small number of reports, and multiple choice exams every few weeks.

One of the greatest professors here. You get a quiz every Monday instead of taking an exam or 2. There are also online quizzes that are easy if you read the chapter. Going to lecture helps and the textbook is online as well. Go to class, he does do participation points at the end that are the easiest points you could get.
