Comment:
Professor Rollo is one of the most knowledgable professors I've had. He unpacks the material that is especially dense and doesn't expect his students to lurch foreword if we genuinely weren't sure what was happening. Also, he's just the coolest and actually cares about his students.

Professor Rollo is a gem in the English department, which is saying a lot considering how full of themselves some of those professors are. Also, he's the only Cambridge/Princeton man I know that can rock skinny jeans and make medieval books and poems relevant and interesting. Basically, take him. He actually cares about helping you do your best!

Taking Prof. Rollo is a must if taking 261. He is really knowledgable and his lectures are interesting. You are graded on three papers and a final, but he lets you write a fourth paper to take the place of one of your three if you were not happy with the grade. Go to his office hours about papers too. He's helpful and gives great feedback.

Best English prof I've had at USC so far--he is very clear with his expectations on grading, and generally allows for one more essay to be written if you think your grade needs it. he's super funny and relatable, and allows for time in class just to chat and talk about current events. He really helped improve my writing and was a great mentor

Prof. Rollo was great! I took his class for a GE and it was pretty relaxed. He is really funny and helpful. The readings were hard since they're super antiquated, but just read the summaries so that you can participate in class. Your grade consists of only a couple papers and a written final, so make sure to discuss your topics with him beforehand.

Reading is little less than a book a week. You can just read summaries if u want. Talk about the books in class. Just 3 essays and final is a timed essay. To get A, take notes of what he says in class about the books and use it in your essays. Get to know the guy, he's extremely chill and funny. Not too hard of a grader. Very smart too.

Professor Rollo is one of the best professors I have ever had. His class was so interesting and he always had great insights into the text we were reading. Grade was determined by 4 papers ( 1 in class paper for the final exam) and participation (so just show up). If you write what he says during lecture, you're pretty much guaranteed to get an A.

Rollo was nice, funny, and he cares about his students! If you take notes in class it's easy to form an argument for your essays and he grades them very easily. I got an A on all of them and I'm not that good of a writer, the final is also easy! I read all the books but not necessary bc you can use online summaries and he explains them in class.

Professor Rollo cares about his students a lot. He gives good lectures on the books we read, but sometimes students really need to participate in order for the class to have a more dynamic discussion (or else he would think that everyone is a little shy and so he would answer his own questions) The papers are easy to get A for if you pay attention.

BEST PROFESSOR EVER! Trust me, take him. You need to read and actually do work in his class, I know, big surprise, you're at USC and you actually have to work, but it's very easy to do well if you keep up with his awesome lectures. He's super supportive, and really wants you to do well!

Professor Rollo is a great teacher. He knows the material that he is teaching very well and although there are a lot of books to read, he is very understanding when students don't fully understand the material. He wants his students to succeed so he isn't out there to trick you on papers and exams. I really can't recommend him enough.

Prof. Rollo is the homie lol I would definitely recommend this professor. I would also advise students to please show up on time, do the readings, and take notes during his lectures of the readings, it will help you develop ideas for your papers. There's 3 Papers and one Final with identifying texts + writing plot summaries.

Awesome class. A lot of reading, but you've probably already read some of the books in high school (Great Gatsby, Catcher in the Rye, Macbeth.) He assigns three 5-page essays and a final, which is just writing plot summaries. He's not too clear with the essay prompts, but just take good notes in class and summarize what he says and you'll get an A.

He's a smart, funny, and entertaining professor. But there was too much archaic dense reading to do it all, so he asks lots of questions to a silent room and just answers them himself. If you do the reading you'll have a great time discussing it with him in class, and if you don't do the reading he explains it in lecture so you'll do fine anyway.

Professor Rollo was great. Made each class interesting, even though it was English Lit of the Middle Ages, which many profs can make very fatiguing. To get a good grade: Show up for class and try to talk somewhat regularly, and either write good papers or meet with him beforehand to discuss. Definitely would recommend Rollo.

Keeps the class interesting. Easy grader, if you put a little bit of effort you'll definitely do well. Keeps the class interesting. Explains subject matter clearly and with detail. Nice, funny. I enjoyed the class. I can't keep up with all the reading while handling the rest of my course load, but he makes it really easy to skip a few books.

Had him for ARLT100 in Spring 2011, was pretty chill class, he takes attendance, but essays are real easy and final is plot summary. British Accent is nice to listen to lol and the books are pretty interesting (Culture and Revolt) with Gatsby, Catcher in the Rye. Has a certain type of humor but he tries to make the class fun. good prof!
