Terribly whiny about the shift to online classes, I kind of get it but she wouldn't shut up about it. She's incredibly rude most of the time and gives some of the worst feed back I've ever seen during a critique. You won't know your grade until the class is over because she refuses to use blackboard.

If you get her, you better get on her good side FAST. Most of the time her criticism is more insulting than actually helpful. Will mark you absent if you are late by one minute on lecture days and for "work days" will mark you absent as soon as "she gets up from her computer." Take with caution.

Her feedback is pretty useless and self serving. Her expectations of students are ridiculous considering the hardships most people are going through, and the fact that most students don't have access to a lot of materials they'd need. She also gives assignments that unnecessarily stress out students, like multiple 4 foot assignments.

Avoid her at all cost, at least during this pandemic. She makes petty unconstructive criticisms to students for no reason, and puts them on the spot. Even when students had covid she would ask them for proof so she wouldn't "have to" mark their grades down. She doesn't post grades anywhere either so you just have to wait to be surprised at the end

Gives the impression she doesn't know how to fill in class time... although she occasionally has good insight, most of her comments are subjective. Pointless if you're already proficient in the medium and need actual advice.

Maria having such a difficult time transitioning to zoom calls made the class completely unenjoyable i don't know how she made drawing unenjoyable for me, her accessibility was almost non- existent outside of class hours , if you had submitted a work 1 minute late should would count your absence.

Maria is a fantastic professor. I'd never painted before in my life, and she was pretty much always ready to say what was working and what wasn't. She did her best to help each student individually, and many times she would work with you on a specific technique for what you had in mind. That said, she can be a bit ... blunt. But it's a good blunt!

It is not easy to get a A in this class you have to put a lot of time into it, but I enjoyed the class. She explains techniques well . All projects are done in oil paint.

The worst art professor I have ever had. Flat out admitted that she hasn't painted in over a decade. Was late to and left class early each day. Absurd deadlines. Obsessed with quantity over quality of paintings. I learned absolutely nothing and feel as though I have gotten worse at painting. Very condescending, both in comments and demeanor.

She is honestly the best art teacher I've had. She will tell you honestly what you need to work on and what is working with your pieces. She is not going to dumb something down to make you feel better, if it needs to be fixed shell tell you. With that being said, she really wants to work with you to help make the best art you can make.

Hands down her Non-Traditional Drawing class was the best class I've ever taken. She is no-nonsense but supportive of all her students. She is good humored but make sure you have a good work ethic. In other words, be there and have ideas.

Positive: She is honest and knows her stuff. She has been a teacher for a long time and can figure out if you worked hard or you're a slacker. She doesn't teach a lot of techniques to the whole class, but is good one-on-one. Negative: Has some communication problems. She sometimes will say one thing, and then do something else. She can insult (unkn

Teacher is very honest, very up-front. She will critique your work according to the type of work you do, so if you're sensitive, beware. Overall she is a nice teacher, and she works with you - however, she is a harsh grader, so don't be surprised if you don't end up with an A. She rarely gives those out.

BEST professor. her critiques were so helpful, she tells you the truth and if it's bad art she tells you what you can do to fix it. simple as that. she is funny and a great listener. She can change your mind/view about anything art wise. She will try to scare you off at first but stay & you will find it will be the best decision for your art career
