Comment:
His grading didn't seem fair at all! He provided no notes, only reading the whole text and articles. When I questioned how I could do better on posts- stating the ways I thought I had met his rubric expectations- he told me to reference the rubric. Maybe he'd be more compassionate in a classroom but he is everything in an instructor I hope I'm not.

Comment:
Avoid at all costs. There were too many chapters tested per module. The amount required of us was far more than what would have been achievable in an on-campus lecture. I think he took advantage of us. Gives Terrible feedback. The tests were not fair at all. The most disrespectful professor I have encountered in my 4 years at MUN.

Very well prepared course. He stayed on top of the class and was very prompt with feedback. He was also REALLY clear on dates and expectations. I wish all web courses were this well presented.

Comment:
When Philpott did answer student questions, he was rude and displayed no respect for student's concerns. Although clear expectations were established, there was confusion at the end of the course when he closed the discussion area and refused to reopen it. Courseload was heavy but informative. Aviod if possible!

Terrible experience. Was very unclear with due dates. Over half the class was confused and has an issue with this and he did not care. Very rude, arrogant and would not take a course with him again. Was not understanding and did not care how people in the class did. Choose another prof if you can.

A tough course, especially in a condensed format, but it proved to be a great learning experience. He was fair and firm, clear and consistent - keeping us all on track and taking no bull from students. Not a course for those looking for an easy A but definitely one for those who who know what will be expected in the field.

Comment:
Dr. Philpott is rude and arrogant. He was very condescending and trite when answering our questions. The final exam was also invalid - did not focus on the content of the course but instead, asked questions like "Who said ...?", or "Who developed...?". NOT IMPRESSED with Dr. Philpott. I did well though, despite having been taught by him!!!

I did the same course this term and found it to be extremely well organized. He responded to my email and group postings the same day, stayed on top of our assignments and forced us to stay on track. It was one of the best web courses I've ever done.

Although I enjoyed the material, I found that there was hardly any feedback. I felt like a number only. There needs to be more connection from the prof to the students. I was rarely motivated as a result. I don't know, but I think that Dr. Philpott might be a good prof, but it was impossible to get a feel for this prof, there was no conncetion.

A TON of work but I have to agree that I learned an amazing amount. He reinforces the content with practical examples from his own amazing career. EVERY lecture was done on powerpoint - if they were all this organized.....

A great guy who sets a high bar and refuses to compromise the integrity of the course. He pushes us towards excellence and creates a learning environment unequalled in the faculty. I wish the other profs would learn from him!
