Absolutely loved Oser. Hes hilarious in class and gives great feedback. My writing improved so much! Reading is important, but he doesnt assign an unmanageable amount. (Pro tip: go to office hours. He will look over and critique your paper with you before you turn them in.) Will definitely be taking Oser again.

Professor Oser was amazing. He makes class super interesting and makes you want to go to class. Tough grader on papers but he is super helpful in office hours. Loved listening to him, he really knows what he's talking about.

Professor Oser has improved my writing so much. He makes you work for your grade - he cares about you reaching your best ability, and isn't afraid to tell you when it isn't - but his classes are my favorite of all of college.

I took Oser for Poetry and Poetics and Touchstones 1 and I liked him a lot. He was very specific in what he wanted from your writing and he really wanted you to improve. Office hours helped a lot, especially before a paper. Overall, a really good professor. I would take him again and I would recommend him. Also really liked his cool hats.

At first, Professor Oser's Poetry and Poetics class seemed daunting. But if you work hard and attend office hours, you will absolutely be rewarded. Even a five minute critique with him will help improve your grade. The only complaints I have is that he can be rigid in his opinions and have crammed office hours before due dates.

Prof. Oser is an eccentric but very intelligent professor. He is a difficult but fair grader - hard to get an A but easy to get a B. His quizzes contain specific and obscure questions, but he often curves them generously. More lecture-based than other English classes - most of his lectures focus on sex and religion. Enjoyed & would take again.

He's tough, but if you do the reading each week you should be fine. He really wants you to succeed. If you go to office hours with work prepared, he will give really good critiques.

Craw Drama felt more like a religion class in which we read plays, the lectures were overlong and boring. If you get up during class even to throw something out he gets mad, and you're not allowed to leave even to go to the bathroom. Makes passive aggressive comments about athletes, and condescendingly calls all the girls in the class "sweetie"

What a strange but intelligent man. You'll laugh at his weird quirks, but he knows his stuff and you'll walk out of his CRAW course being able to write and analyze the text better. Always go to office hours though. I can't stress that enough. He'll tell you exactly what he wants in the paper and exactly what he does not.

Professor Oser is brilliant. Sometimes his lectures are boring andor confusing, but he undoubtedly knows what he's talking about. Papers were graded on the more difficult side, but were no means impossible. Paper prompts were pretty difficult, though.

A bit intimidating because he is BIG on class participation prepared to be called on - no one get''s away with sitting passively in the back corner. But his lectures are engaging and his knowledge on the material is highly impressive. He can be a little eccentric but you''ll learn to love it. You''ll work for your grade but it''ll be fair.

Oser is the best. He makes the material come alive, and is himself very lively. Go to his office hours to get some extra credit and help. His quizzes are boring but easy enough if your are familiar with the material. Great professor!

Incredibly smart guy. Took Craw Poetry & a T.S. Eliot course. If you put effort in, you will learn a ton. He is very big on class participation, giving quizzes on the readings, grammar, and obscure literary references. Great professor to have...the work is well worth it. (he would be horrified by my lack of proper sentence structures in this post)

The best professor ever! I came into Holy Cross, barely knowing anything but the bare minimum taught in High School, and left Prof. Oser's class amazed, and having new, opened eyes to this glorious world of classical literature!

Brilliant Professor! I took a lot away from our 20th C Brit Lit course. I enjoyed his lectures and found his comments on papers to be very helpful. Got away with a well deserved B, considering I wrote all three papers overnight. But I definitely recommend him!

His lectures are brutal and he makes everyone participate. Doesn't give A's on his papers. Big on grammar and the form of your papers. Very good teacher and you learn a lot and get to be a better writer. Quizzes final and midterm are easy.
