Class will be very difficult if you don't already have a decent amount of experience with Spanish. He calls you out if you don't know the answer to something and will OFTEN call on students randomly (def not the class for you if you have social anxiety). LOTS of homework questions every night. "Repetition is key" type of approach in his teaching

I've gotten A's and B's on Spn. 1-3 but I'm barely passing in this class. He is very degrading and will call you out and make you feel stupid if you don't know an answer. This was my last class before graduation and I'm pretty sure I'm gonna have to retake it. If you care about your mental health then avoid him at all costs.

I took this class at ZOOM UNIVERSITY. I do not think he is a bad professor, you could tell that he genuinely wanted to teach his students and help them learn. However, I do think that if this class was taken in person he would've been a little more strict in grading since most of my exams were oral exams and the writing portions were open book.

Comment:

Spanish 4 was a very easy class. He is genuine, kind and has a lot of energy in the mornings. Participation was a huge factor for Spanish 4. Everyday he would ask you entrevista questions, there were also nine situations that we had to memorize for the final interview. Otherwise, it was like all previous Spanish classes.

I've taken all 4 quarters of Spanish at UCR and Prof. Navarro is a great lecturer! He is very organized and clear when teaching the course. He does collect, correct and review HW every day. He also requires a lot of participation so be prepared to pay attention and talk. Go to his office hours if something comes up or if you need help, he cares!

This class annoyed me even as someone who speaks Spanish. Homework every night and very nit-picky grader on the tests. Not an effective way of learning the language. At the end of 10 weeks no one could speak more than a handful of phrases in Spanish, let alone hold a conversation. Not an easy A.

He gets frustrated really easily if you don't know the answer, even if it's something you just learned. You also spend the majority of the class going over your homework answers with a partner so it's essentially the blind leading the blind. I got an A in Spanish two and three and I barely passed Spanish 4.

Fantastic instructor. Dynamic, funny, poors his heart into his work. You will NOT fall asleep in his class. One of the best instructors I've ever had.

He is very funny and very concerned. His teaching methods could be better but is very decent. But he is very strict on grades, however, he is not unreasonable. He also cares a lot of the students, overall, a very nice teacher. Take this class if you really want to learn.

He is such an awesome professor. He really cares for all of his students. He not only teaches you spanish, he teaches you about life in general. I learned so much in his class. He assigns a lot of homework but that is the only way to learn the language.
