I really enjoyed dr. Chivers' part of the course. He doesn't provide notes though and really tries to get you to understand how to properly "do science". He also plays music at the beginning of each lecture which was fun.

Doug is the embodiment of a good professor. His lectures were very interesting and inspiring, he really encourage a critical view of science in the media today. I wish I could take all of my classes with him.

I love this guy. He knows his stuff and is very good at explaining concepts. One of the smartest fella's in the biology department. His tests aren't easy but they are fair... and i did notice that every now and then his voice did sound a tad like kermit the frog, not very often though.

would have helped a lot more had he put the notes up before class. i spent the whole class trying to write out his notes and not understanding concepts (i'm not a genius biology student). however, class was pretty interesting but his portions of the tests were harder compared to others. if you study hard you can still get a decent grade.

Great professor. Very clear, very organized teaching style, one of the best that I've had for biology. The exams were set up in a tough format, ie: 60% of the test was one essay, but the questions were fair. Know your stuff!!!!!

Doug is money, he is very approachable, his materials are always well organized and clear. All around I feel he's one of the finest prof's I've ever had. If you have the oppertunity to take a class lectuerd by Doug, take it. I don't really think he sounds like a frog puppet but that's just me.

A very well organized and knowlegdable prof. Probably a very nice man, but very intemidating in class. Test was fair, the format was unique from any other classes (onthe final his section of the class was one comphrehensive essay worth 60%)both demanding you know your stuff but allowing room to forget some details.

This guys portion of Bio 110 bites the big one. BUT Fish class is FUN! He is a much funnier fellow than you'd expect given his sesame street-esque voice and apparel. A+ for Doug's fishies (although the tests are not easy... study hard and be rewarded with a fair grade).

Easy, but pretty boring, spends a lot of time telling you "don't write the notes down word-for-word" that you can write down the whole slide before he finishes the first point.

Doug was very good. He stimulated class discussion, he was careful to hear out every student and was genuinely interested in the subject material. He does not sound like Kermit the Frog. His feedback was useful and relevant.

Yah, he does sound like Kermit the Frog, but he is super-organized, and he's always willing to be approached, whenever he isn't in class. Plus, he's always willing to take the time to put his notes on overheads, which only assists in us understanding.
