do not take this class. yes it's an easy A but at the same time one of the worst classes i've taken at UD by being so far beyond boring i wanted to cry. if you do take it don't bother buying a single book and definitely bring your computer for entertainment. you'll need it.

One of the nicest professors you will ever encounter here. Her powerpoints are online, attendance is not mandatory and she offers extra credit. There are two exams that are all written response and not multiple choice and four novels to read. Class can be boring but just go as she can have some valuable things to say. Easy A for Group C requirement

Very easy class! One of the nicest professors I have encountered. Her powerpoints are easy to understand and she posts them online. A review session is held during class period before an exam. She also hands out a study guide. Extra credit opportunities are always given. You don't need the textbook although she does assign three additional novels.

Very knowledgeable nice woman but her lectures are really boring. That being said, she puts all her power points online and doesn't take attendance. Assigns a lot of reading but you can get by with a B if you go to class and listen. Couldn't figure out a powerpoint if her life depended on it. Overall, decently easy but boring class

Marks is an very nice and knowledgeable bwoman but I have never been so confused in my whole life. I did all of the readings and studied hard, as well as attending every class and did absolutely horribly in it. She is very very unclear and I had no idea how to get a good grade in that class. Unless you think very abstractly, do not take her.

This class was EXTREMELY easy. Professor Marks is a very nice lady, funny, but a little ditzy and sometimes kind of strange. She gives you exactly what is going to be on every exam a few days before each exam, so if you don't get an A in her class something has to be wrong with you. It's very very straightfoward...use your common sense.

Class lectures some of the most boring I've ever had to sit through; she emails you most of the powerpoints, so attendance is only mandatory for attendance points; she GIVES you the exam content on the study guides, so go to optional review sessions; she's very passionate about content area, speeds through lectures & doesn't check for comprehension

She's sweet but VERY ditzy and very unclear. Not reading, but going to class can easily get you around a low A/B. Time management is important on her tests, you won't have enough time to write as much as you'd want, so shorten it and make it what she wants to read.

Marks is a very loopy woman. She eventually makes her point but you have to find it most of the time. I never read - anything - and still managed a B+ in the class. Use the study guides she gives you and you'll get at least a B. Imagine if I HAD read.

The class was horrible! Dr. Marks is a very intelligent woman, but the way she lectured was horrbily unclear. In order to know the answers to her essay questions ready was cruical. Definetly not my favorite class OR professor at UD.

really good class. carole is a nice woman and wants everyone to do well. but for the most part her lectures were pretty unclear. i rarely ever took notes during lecture and just asked all the questions i could during the review time in class. all essay exams but not hard if you study a little. IT helps if you read...but not necessary for an A.

Prof Marks is a really nice person and very helpful in office hours. Her teaching style is conceptual, so she was sometimes unclear in lectures. I found the class interesting, though most of the readings were dry and the three essay tests were difficult. If you like the subject, this is a great class - but don't take it as an easy elective.

This class was highly recommended to me by an advisor, so I was excited to take it. However, it ended up being a very hard class and the professor was not as engaging and wonderful as I had been told. The tests are all essay and you write your hand off and still don't have time to write everything in an hour+15 min class. Very hard/NOT worth it!

Professor Marks is a genious in the field. Lectures are interesting- go to class, take notes, don't bother reading, do the study guides and you'll get an A.

Great class. The readings aren't bad and lectures are interesting. Gives study guides a few days before exams which are 60% of the exam. She is very understanding and easy to talk to.

While the lectures I did attend were somewhat enjoyable, I found that neither the lectures or the readings were neccesary. I attended class twice in the last three weeks, and came away from the course with a high grade. Study guides are absolutely crucial to passing the tests. Nice woman.

What a genuinely nice, down to earth woman. The sociology department is lucky to have this one. An extremely bright woman who does not make you feel intimidated by her wit and encourages open discusion. She relates to her students and has genuine concern for them. BEST TEACHER @ UD!!!!!!!
