Dr. Isely is awesome, he is really knowledgeable in econ and really willing to help. If you go to his office he'll drop whatever he's doing to help you. Stata is hard so don't miss class or you'll be lost the rest of the semester. Find an inclass buddy to work with on projects - directions tend to be lacking

Professor Isley's class was quite difficult. Often times he didn't explain examples very well. However he attempted to make up for this by willing to work with students after/out of class. Exams were composed of essays and math problems. Nice guy, hard class.

Prof Isely knows his stuff, and can teach it. Exams are TOUGH- all essay, you will write a TON. Exams don't necessarily reflect what you have learned, but use the study guide and you're all set.

The guys is smart no doubt about it and can teach the subject well! Always willing to help and has plenty of office hours if anything needs explaining. He is a hard professor but I've never learned so much about a subject. Essay tests so know your stuff......NOT EASY unless you know the material inside and out. I will take him again.

The concepts presented are not difficult. Most of the class is "active learning" rather than lecture. My impression: some instruction necessary for understanding and completion of homework assignments was intentionally withheld. That was frustrating. Most of the assigned reading not discussed or tested. Exams are essay and problem-solving.

Great Teacher. I had no interest in enviornmental economics before the course but now I enjoy it. His assignments are vague at first but you get the hang of it by the end.

A bit eccentric, as others have pointed out, but Iseley is one of the better profs I've had at GVSU. In particular, he's obviously bright, cares about the material and can actually _teach_. If you have a pulse and come to class, you won't be able to help but learn a lot.

Difficult material, but a good professor to teach it. Work hard b/c he expects a lot of you. Hated going to class b/c I wasn't doing well, but significantly raised my grade after the end of the year project and ultimately had a B (even with a 65% midterm score). If you're ready to work, then go ahead and take him. It doesn't come easily.

Isely is a good prof. very helpfull, takes his teaching seriously, must attend all classes or you'll get behind, fast paced, he has a dry sense of humor, can be funny, learned a lot in his class, would recommend for the slow boring pace of an econ class, he makes it bearable. :)

He is a great professor, one of the best I have ever had. He knows his economics and tries very hard to get students to understand it too. You have to come to class every week in order to do well because he is hard, but not impossible. He is vey fair. He gives good examples and is funny too.
