Comment:
The professor follows very closely to the textbook. It's as if he copied the book into his lectures verbatim. Oh wait, that's exactly what he did. The tests are based on the HW but no answer keys for the HW provided so we don't even know if we did it right. No answer keys for the exams either. You'd be better off reading the textbook by yourself.

His explanations of topics are very unclear and he expects students to know a lot of information from classes that are not prerequisites. Lectures are very confusing and have little value when doing the homework and exams. If you want to read from the textbook and teach yourself all the material then this is the class for you.

He was good at teaching math308, his quizzes were easy if u took notes and studied a bit, he is also very considerate, he messed up during the first quiz and gave everyone an 100%. Also, for the last quiz he made it optional after 80% of the class rated the class. I would take him again for sure

Great prof for linear algebra, very clear lectures and always explains the concepts very well. Not too much homework and its always relevant to class/quizzes. Tests at least online were weekly and not too difficult, he also drops the three lowest questions from across the quizzes. Overall great prof that I would recommend taking for 308!

For 308 he was a very good prof (don't know about 408, never taken it). Based on just my experience this quarter (ymmv), this prof was very accommodating and helpful (always took time to answer questions). I'm not the best at math so I thought the quizzes were challenging (but not impossible). His attitude is good but his handwriting is awful.

Comment:
This class is too easy. The hw was too easy. It's not fair, I was expecting higher quality from my first LA class. However, I supposed he must accommodate the ungrateful "technical" students (Engineering, CS, etc). I don't see why the class needs to conform for those who lack potential. I expected more rigor. Take this class if you like easy.

Homework, readings, and the lecture all go hand in hand, reinforcing each other. The quiz structure was an interesting shift from the usual 2 midterms and the final. We only had 9 quizzes on material over the past week, and the quizzes were standard difficulty. The usual math. Excellent professor who enjoys linear algebra; def would take again.

For Math 308 online he was a great teacher! The class was graded by very few quizzes but they were, in general, not extremely tough, especially if you do the concept problems beforehand. His lectures I found to be extremely engaging and he taught the material well! Great class, and you can tell he cares about his students.

Math 308 (soon to be 208) was well-structured, homework was actually helpful instead of being busy-work.

In short, your experience may vary. Maybe for Math 408 he wasn't as good (judging by the reviews) but for 308 online, he was great. People change over time, so who he was back then isn't who he is now. But based on my experience (and many students will agree) he was very patient and helpful. Online is tough but he made it a pleasant experience.

This professor really knows what he's talking about. He does a great job explaining class content, is obviously passionate about math and various mathematical applications, is humorous at times, and always addresses questions to ensure that his students understand the material.

He put forth a lot of effort to make sure students understood the material. He always pauses during class to address questions. Additionally, the weekly quizzes were based mostly on the webassign homework so as long as you understand the homework, you should do fine on the quiz.

He really cares about students. Always pauses to let students ask questions and he really wants us to understand the material. He never tested us on material that was not covered in class. If hw required a topic that wasn't covered he would extend the deadline. Tests are straightforward but make sure you understand the theory. Overall great prof!

He is more interested in making sure that you understand the material and why you're doing what you're doing. He doesn't have an interest in tests but instead gave weekly quizzes.

He really cares about his students and won't continue lecturing until everyone's questions are answered. He's really helpful to talk to and the quizzes he wrote were straightforward, never any gotcha questions. Take him if you can!

Was initially skeptical because the other reviews were very critical of him. However, he deserves the benefit of the doubt. Prof Drusvyatskiy was very helpful (always took the time to answer every student's question), and extremely accommodating in this online quarter. Go to office hours if you need help, he's very nice and easy going.

Very well run class! Manageable workload, and very reasonable weekly quizzes. Grades are skewed strongly toward quiz performance, but some are dropped throughout the quarter. Lectures are quite good, with multiple examples typically ranging from simple to complex, paired with explanation of the theory. Definitely would take again! Great professor.

He knows the material, but he is horrible at teaching it. Youre left confused after every sentence he says. He also doesnt show things, he says things in words and writes them down expecting you to completely understand it with hardly any examples. Also, his tests are very confusing so you would need to understand the theorems incredibly well.

He may know about the materials, but he doesnt know a bit about how to share those with his students, the way he explains something is extremely confused. I study by myself for the whole quarter and all I need is just the book! I was very looking forward to take this class but it is so disappointing. He doesnt even give us the Evaluation paper.

Comment:
Worst instructor, his lectures have little to do with the homework and the exams. He always simplifies the proof of theorems and never gives examples in class. The most ironic thing is that he considers himself a terrific teacher, even though there are so many students complaining. Avoid him if you want to have a good day.
