If you want to actually learn academic writing, you should definitely take her course. The feedbacks were very detailed and useful to improve on the next assignment. If she tells you to read ahead, you should. You shouldn't expect minimum work. This is supposed to be a course designed to improve your writing skills not just breeze through it.

You'll be given three big papers to write and a lot of smaller writing assignments. She assumes that her students know basically nothing about writing, which was very annoying and lead to a bunch of useless lectures, but overall you'll pass as long as you know how to write

Professor Mitra is endlessly caring, very fun to listen to and always available for extra feedback. The discussions opportunities and analysis provided both by the peers and the professor greatly assisted in the process of understanding the class material. Discussion posts could be a little more specific in their instructions.

Took this teacher thinking that she was a good teacher. Ended up finding out that she is completely unreasonable when giving homework. She expects students to finish papers within 4 days on top of giving other homework. She doesn't grade majority of the assignments so you will not know what your grade will end up being. Good luck if you choose her!

This professor is the best professor I have ever seen. She is very responsible and willing to help you solve your writing difficulties. She will also choose some very interesting books for us to read, and each of the student has the opportunity to share the understanding and feelings about the book. Get prepared for surprises!

She is a great professor that I've taken for humanity credits so far. She's passionate about her lectures. She's always there to help out the students. She's very friendly and super nice! I would recommend taking her for humanity credit. I don't like studying history before, but she inspires me to do so! Maybe a little heavy on readings.

Professor Mitra truly cared about the success of my class as writers. She genuinely really enjoyed having our class and even took a group picture with us because she liked us that much. One of the best English teachers I've ever had.
