Comment:
Professor Samolyk is very sweet and genuinely wants her students to succeed. But the class itself was dreadfully dry and boring. Lectures/course notes were provided but were DENSE and (sometimes) hard to follow. Also, nothing is recorded so if you miss a class due to COVID you're screwed.

Prof. Samolyk is truly a gem in the Econ department. She cares about her students and is eager to help you succeed in her class. And while the material can be memorization-heavy at times, her exams are relatively straightforward. I'd just recommend you attend class and take notes, since she doesn't record lectures and the textbook is very dry

Very nice professor, caring about students. Three exams are tough, need to memorize a lot of concepts and theories, but professor gives fair grades.

Prof. Samolyk wants her students to succeed and has relevant real-world experience in her course material. Lectures are pretty straight-forward but cover a lot of material. Reviewing her old exam she posts online give you a decent idea of what will be on the test. Exams are straight-forward and there's a decent amount of easy extra credit.

Comment:
Prof. Samolyk is very nice and cares about her students. However, her lectures are dry and boring. Lots of memorization and you really have to memorize to get a good grade. I took it for a minor requirement. The material is substantial to learn for Econ major but not the most relative or useful for a minor(compare to intro accounting).

Prof. Samolyk is one of the nicest professors I've ever had. She is the type of professor that really wants you to succeed and goes as far as throwing a dozen extra credit points your way throughout the course of the semester. The course material is tough-- an ocean of information and you'll be tested on four raindrops-- but she's there to help.

Really sweet lady. The only reason I thought it was difficult was because I don't have a strong economics background. Going through 15-20 pages of typed notes (outlines of chapters that you don't really have to leave) everyday in class is straining. It's kind of confusing because you can't read ahead of class. Exams are okay. She gives EC.

She put in so much effort, which ended up making me want to learn! She also wrote out lecture summaries for each class that were amazing. I plan to keep these with me for a long time. One of the few classes I can say taught me interesting, lifelong lessons. You will need to work, but if you do, you will probably do very well. She wants you to pass!

3 exams each 30% of final grade, HW is 10%, occasional extra credit for attendance or on hw. Really nice lady, but very quiet--sit up close to the podium to hear her! Book isn't really necessary but is helpful. Lowest grade she gave on exams was a B-. If you're looking for an easy econ class with basically no work required this is your course.

Summer session of financial econ. 3 exams (30% each) and homework (10%), lowest grade on exam 1 was a B-. She speaks very quietly so sit up front. Really nice lady, gives tons of partial credit even if your answer is completely wrong. Lectures are sometimes dry but overall the course is easy. Solid choice.

I really liked her class and learned a lot. Lectures definitely cover things not in the books but she told us what we needed to know for the exam. Going to lecture is important but interesting. She curves exams which helps a lot.
