Comment:
Dr. Cain does not push any beliefs on her students and is sure to evaluate all sides to the theologies and theologians covered in class, so her classroom feels like an inviting place. Additionally, she is a generous grader and I never felt stressed about the outcome of my grade. She requires some participation, but she is pretty generous with that.

Prof. Cain is literally so amazing! She truly does care about all of her students, and always makes for a great class discussion. She is super accessible outside of class and does want you to succeed. Cain gives you a very manageable workload, and is very willing to alter assignments and give extensions. 10/10 such a queen, take her class!!

Prof Cain is by far the best honors discussion leader. The class' grading criteria is naturally a clown show, but she makes it possible to make an A-, unlike other teachers. She gives great feedback on essays if you send it to her before the deadline to review. Highly recommend getting an honors mentor. I didn't do all the readings and did well

I loved Dr. Cain for Honors! She is the best choice you could have. I remember the first day she quelled all of our nerves by telling us exactly what our exams would be like. Her lectures were also very interesting and helped a lot in discussion. A bit of a tough grader on papers but everyone in honors is. Definitely take her if you can!

I really liked Dr. Cain as a lecturer. She went at a very manageable pace and made the lectures intriguing and she was good at relating the older texts we were learning about to pop culture. I also really loved the material she lectured on!

Dr. Cain is literally the BEST prof. for discussion! She leads extremely interesting classes, and is amazing at creating an environment where everyone feels comfortable to speak. She is a bit of a harsh grader, but is clear about what she expects on papers, and if you speak to her, she will give you great feedback and help you out! Take her! <3

I loved my discussion with professor Cain so much. She's engaging, insightful and really cares about all of her students. She's so willing to make sure everyone gets the most out of class she can, and she grades kinda tough but she's so willing to sit down and give feedback.

Dr. Emily Cain was definitely my favorite professor in the Honors program. I'm so sad that she only does the Honors program some years, but if she is offering discussion, TAKE IT! She fosters fun engagement with the texts and discussions are always interesting. She shares her grading rubric for essays so the grading criteria is very clear. <3

I came into this class with zero religious experience or knowledge and was really worried that I would hate the class but Professor Cain is so amazing that this was one of my favorite classes. I genuinely looked forward to class. She is so understanding and accommodating and willing to help you learn and succeed. I highly recommend her!

Dr. Cain is a fantastic professor. I knew literally nothing about Christianity going into the class and she made all of the material easy to understand and was always available for extra help. She also genuinely cares about every student and cares about their success. If you need help, ask, and she will do everything she can. Take Dr. Cain!!!

doctor cain was really passionate about theology. after each reading there would be a worksheet with questions to fill out to help with tests. exams are made up of take home essays which is nice but difficult prompts. 3 books that you need to read and VERY heavy on participation. always responded to emails fast. chill teacher but can be difficult.

Emily, you did it again. This is the 2nd class I've taken with her, and it was another fantastic, discussion-based class that left me pondering questions I didn't know needed to be asked. She's not a difficult grader, but her classes are intense. With that said, you'd be missing out if you didn't take her before you graduate. She's wonderful!

Lots of books (that you have to read but they are interesting), lots of papers about the books (pretty easy grader), and you have to come to class (1x a week for 2.5 hours). We watched two movies and she very ready and willing to actually connect with her students and wanted to have good class discussions, better than most other theology profs!

I thought Dr. Cain made her lectures very interesting and covered good topics for a core theology class. That being said, there is a LOT of reading- several novels, some of them very long. Also, she would never give me 100% on anything which was frustrating as she was always very complimentary of my work and never critiqued it, which was confusing.

I had Dr. Cain for Honors 101 discussion and she was great. Unlike other honors professors she actually talks about the texts and helps you understand them deeper. She is a tough grader but it improves your writing immensely. Going to appointments to talk about papers definitely helps figure out what she wants. Very sweet, caring, and really smart.

Comment:
Dr. Cain led very helpful discussions about the books we read. However, she was very unclear about her grading criteria and did not give good feedback. She was less willing to look over drafts of papers to help students improve than other Honors professors were. Though I really like Dr. Cain as a person, I would not recommend her.
