Comment:
Professor Staicu is very knowledgeable on the subject but is not good at teaching. Her lectures consist of her reading the textbook and annotating it. It was confusing a lot because you were basically learning straight from the textbook and the jargon can be hard to understand.

She is so confused all the time. She is never clear with her words, she emails students saying that she wont count the participation points for Office hours but informs us later on the last week of class that she decided to keep the participation grade. Test should be 1:45 minutes but takes more than 2 hrs because her question paper has mistakes.

She required that we learned R in addition to the already required material which is absurd, R should be taught as its own course not tacked on as an afterthought. Felt like I was inconveniencing her when I asked to meet outside of class. Study material provided was next to useless as it matched pretty much nothing we covered. Terrible experience.

One of the weirdest opportunities for learning I have ever encountered. All materials provided had no resemblance to our assessments. HW and participation counted for very little of our total grade and 85% of our grade was based on two tests and our Final. The class average for test one was around 50 if that tells you anything.

Expects students to know R, despite that it's not a prereq. Teaches from her own notes, which read like a textbook draft - reads from them verbatim during lecture. Tests look NOTHING like homework or sample tests. Test 2 required R for every step. Perhaps this is a function of going online, but I had a HORRIBLE time in this class.

Obviously knows the material well and I believe can explain concepts exceptionally well. Note that there is a lot of notation for statistics and the examples can be few but she is very patient and willing to walk through what everything means to those who ask. She's excited about what we learn, note you should practice more than she requires.

If you are from a non-Statistics background, get ready to read. She conducts quiz before teaching stuff, so self study is of utmost importance. Covers a lot of stuff in a short time. Very knowledgeable and approachable outside class. Lays emphasis on fundamentals rather than using formulae. Classes are interactive.
