Professor Lock is great he is very passionate about what teaches which is why he gets lost in his lectures at times but as long as you put in the work and effort, you will do just fine. I enjoyed his class and would definitely recommend taking him

Comment:
Lock is clearly passionate about what he teaches. Lectures are long-winded but assignments are only on the things you really need to know. He knows you won't retain everything but he just wants to make sure you start thinking about policy on a deeper level. Super nice guy and wants to see everyone succeed.

Came into Social Policy dreading it. Now because of him I'm thinking of going into policy. His lectures are very passionate and he's very intellectual. He's hilarious too. He's an easy grader-- as long as he sees you making an effort in your papers you'll get an A. There's not enough characters in RMP, so let me end with this: take his class please

Prof. Lock WILL lecture for 3 hours straight. Often times its a lot of information thrown at you, and youre not going to be able to grasp all of it. He understands that though, and he really just expects you to learn something new and learn to think outside the box. Overall, I liked him. He was very passionate and knowledgeable about the subject.

Lock was often long-winded in his explanations, but his thoroughness helped to made sure we all understood before he moved on. He addressed the theoretical aspect to social work policies and inspired us to care about policy, in addition to clinical practice.

Took SWPS1 and 2 with Eric. He is passionate about social policy. He tends to spend an inordinate amount of time on any single slide, but that's only because this is something he has genuine interest in. Paying full attention can be difficult, but you will learn a lot from him. Exams and assignments are reasonable difficulty.

Comment:
He tends to go on extremely long rants, and never fails to take up the full 3 hour time slot. A lot of the time we may not get through everything we need because he rants for so long. HOWEVER, his rants are extremely important, not always to the class but for life in general. Extremely passionate. Lots of information but relatively easy grader.

Lock is a nice guy and very passionate about the field of social work. However, his lecture is very disorganized and he jumps from topic to topic. He will literally be talking about something completely different within the first 5 minutes of the class. Takes forever to post grades or respond to your e-mail.

Comment:
Lock was very informative and never read directly from slides. He's knowledgable about the topic and is a pretty easy grader. He also makes sure everyone understands. He does take the full 3 hours to lecture however but he means well.
