I think he's retiring but I've gotta put my two cents in in case he doesn't lol. I though Johnson hated me at first and I hated him, but he grew on me. He gives you tough work and is hard on you, but he'll make you a better journalist. He's a hard grader, but gives you rewrites and great feedback and is always willing to listen to ideas.

Extremely discouraging as a professor. As oppose to wanting to help students, he has an extremely high expectation. He expects students to basically have reported overseas in combat. He discourages students working in the school newspaper deeming it too broken to be fixed, but will not help himself. Very condescending and arrogant.

Johnson was by fair my favorite professor in my college career! We had papers and assignments out of class but if you had trouble with anything he always strived to help you out. He leads an open discussion and really values your opinion. You have to work for your grade but he makes the class fun and manageable a nonjoernalism major.

Johnson demands perfection in lower-level classes, and it's really, really discouraging. He insists his method is to produce quality journalists, but I disagree wholeheartedly. Scare tactics and a tough attitude don't foster a positive learning environment.

Dr. Johnsons class is super interesting and relaxed. Usually the class involves open discussion. There is one midterm, a final, and a paper. You also get grades on participation. Go to class and take notes when you are supposed to and you will make a good grade.

If you have to take him, just be ready to read and then discuss what you read. His assignments were tough but manageable. He's sometimes very rude and intimidating. Just do the work and you'll be fine, but it's a lot of work.

All of the work you have is outside of class. It seems like a million assignments, but they really help you as a writer. He is very good at giving good feedback. He can be intimidating, but is willing to help you. The only thing you do during class time is just discuss with other classmates about whatever topic he has in mind.

Johnson has been my favorite professor I have had in my college career. He is extremely knowledgable in his trade and wants us to always dig for more information. He will make you work for your grade but for him, it's not about the grading but learning the skill of journalism. He will make you laugh and cry but it's all to better your skill.

Easily one of my favorite professors. He knows everything he teaches and is really passionate about it. He's a tough grader but he really does care about his students, and he makes the class less about the grade and more about really learning to write well. I've learned more from his classes I've taken than I have from any other college class!

I personally didn't like his class, or the class dynamic. He made us sit around a table forcing us to stare at each other. He was pretty strict on our news writing, and it was hard to make a decent grade. Attendance is mandatory, so make sure you show up. I wouldn't take him again, he was to hard on us for being an intro journalism class.

Tough, lots of work, but fair. He wants to make sure you are really dedicated to being in the Journalism world so he will give you a lot of work and grade tough. Even still, he wants to see you succeed, gives good feedback, and will help you out. I learned way more from him than from most intro classes.
