Comment:
Take any class taught by Dr. Meltzer, he is the best! He is amazing at explaining physiology concepts and provides clinical applications which are very useful for pre-med students. He is also a great resource for medical school advice. His tests are very fair and he often tells you what will be on exams. Wish I could take more classes taught by him

Much of the lectures is accompanied by clinical applications, which I found very helpful in connecting together key concepts. His lectures are very detailed, but he provided comprehensive study guides which reflected what was on the exams. Sometimes if he didn't know an answer to a student's question, he would make sure to follow up next time.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!! I spent 5 years as an undergrad and he is by far one of my favorite professor. I took his endocrinology class but he teaches in such a way that you end up learning so much more about physiology than you expect.. his lectures are fascinating and interesting. His class will also help tremendously on the bio portion of the MCAT.

Very clear grading criteria: 3 quizzes, 1 midterm, 1 presentation and a final. Dr. Meltzer made endo topics interesting, chose topics that are MCAT worthy and is very knowledgeable about medical school in general. Highly recommend this class!

Dr. Meltzer's spring 2017 Endocrinology course was an absolute delight; I learned so much from him! Endocrinology is a fascinating but complicated subject. Dr. Meltzer made the material approachable with engaging lectures and discussions. I looked forward to his class each week, and thoroughly enjoyed the 3 hours. 100% recommend a class with him!

I took Endocrinology with Dr. Meltzer last spring and the class was interesting and rewarding. Dr. Meltzer is a great lecturer and is very thorough. He draws descriptive diagrams and explains pathophysiological concepts in ways that will actually stick. Bonus: this course helped me on the biology portion of my dental admission's test!

Great professor! Has a very interesting perspective on medical school and the application process if you're headed in that direction. Clear grading criteria. Excellent teaching method which focuses on concepts, not memorization (when possible). Very nice + funny guy in general. A tad disorganized, but not enough to make a significant difference imo

Professor Meltzer is an amazing professor and you definitely should take him if you have the chance. If you put in the work, you definitely can get an A if you pay attention to the lectures and go over study guide in detail. He repeats important stuff in class so take note of that. Class is interesting and it will definitely help with the MCAT.

Just to follow-up fairly, lecture comprehensiveness is debatable. Were there appropriate topics covered - yup. Were topics covered fully - enough for the MCATs; in general, this varies between student. Was Lecture conveyed/spoken of clearly - No doubt about it. Class structure - 1 midterm/1final, some quizzes, 1 assignment/presentation

The class, more or less, had structure and a clear syllabus and lecture. Topics are(MCAT worthy and) explained enough that one without BG in endo. will learn a few things. Easy for those with BS in Bio. Instructor is approachable in and out of class. Quizzes/exams are easy-should only cover topics mentioned. Lectures are not comprehensive enough.

Real nice guy and demeanor in person but his knowledge of molecular biology isn't solid and endocrinology is out of his depth, particularly because he comes to class unprepared and disorganized, with lecture and notes; probably didn't spend alot of time preparing. Occasionally, class period not (effectively) used - can shorten to 1-1.5hr. Do better

Excellent professor. Very clear on what material you should know for exams. Makes study guides + typed notes to supplement lecture slides (posts online). Minimizes memorization required while emphasizing pathways and understanding. Funny and engaging during lectures. Mandatory presentation that can be done solo or with a partner. Would take again.
