Melissa was one of my best professors this past spring. I really liked the class and she was even flexible on how exams were structured (one was open note, one was take home). Her feedback on questions through email was vague but shes accessible outside of class. She gave us two extra credit opportunities too and Id urge you to take that chance.

Melissa is a great teacher who really wants her students to learn. She is always available to talk and is reasonable with grading, even allowing discussion about changes. She worked in a newsroom, so she actually knows a lot about Journalism. Gives extra credit and often does open book tests!

I am taking JEM367 and JEM411 with Melissa and she is by far my favorite professor. In 367 all the tests are either open book, open note, or take home. It is obvious that she respects her students. Ive had to turn in an assignment late and she didn't knock my grade down because I let her know ahead of time. She will work with you! She's the best!!

Professor Green Bly was a good professor, did she require a lot of work, Yes but at the end of it made you a better journalism student. she grades hard yes but it makes you strive to do better on the next one & learn from your mistakes . But I would take her just so you could make your own judgement.

This class was harder than it needed it be. Melissa was often unclear on what exactly she was looking for in a story, yet would penalize you when it wasn't what she wanted. Lots of out of work outside class. Have to attend City council and Board of Education meetings every week.... boring and not helpful! Also- loved to talk about herself..

Melissa was the best Journalism professor I have had to date. If you want to become a reporter, this is the professor you need to take. She knows the real world and what it is like to work in the field. This class will teach you to find an angle and make a great story out of nothing. Although there is quite a bit of work, it pays off in the end.

Comment:
This class was so hard and ridiculous. Every week we had to go out and film council meetings and lectures. She is a really hard grader and often doesn't tell you what she really wants until you get your grade back. This class helped me become a better reporter a little, but decide if all the harsh grading and extra outings are worth it for you.
