Comment:
You will not be taught by Prof. Mayhook himself. He will throw a grad TA on you, and he will not do anything but grade your online assignments. As for the practice tests, they were not the same content as the actual tests. The TA's did not teach nor made it clear online lectures were available. Avoid if you can. Otherwise, good luck.

Dane Mayhook was a phenomenal math teacher. He worked many examples in class, taught in a very clear and concise way, and recorded all of his lectures for students who couldn't make it. I found myself attending his lectures early in the morning even though I wasn't assigned to them just because he made the concepts so easy to understand.

Best professor I have had in the Iowa State mathematics department. Great lectures that make it easy for everyone to understand. Exams are difficult, but grades are adjusted to reflect your work put into them. Lectures were posted on canvas for times you missed class. Online lectures were as good as being in person. Highly recommended professor.

2 homework assignments a week along with a quiz, practice tests are identical to the actual test, just different numbers. Final was the same way. Responds to emails quickly

This class is required for Business majors as a pre-req. It was online with a recitation with a grad student once a week. Lectures were posted typically Saturday. My recitation was Monday, so that was hard. The expectation was that you'd watched all of the videos (2-3 sections per week) prior to class. Do the practice tests. They helped. No curve.

Professor Mayhook is a great professor. He responds to emails in a timely manner undertsands his students, and creates assignments and quizzes based on student progress. There is two or three homework assignments per week and a quiz. The exams aren't bad if you utiliz the practice exams that are identical. Offers lots of help with office hours and

Professor Mayhook is really good. He lectures while writing key concepts and examples on a blackboard. He responds to emails in a timely manner and is open to giving you partial credit on test questions you may miss. His assignments are very consistent, and he gives practice tests that are VERY helpful. There is a math book, but I never used it.

Prof. Mayhook is an excellent professor. For my first college math class, I felt well informed and educated by him. He clearly states questions to study for finals and exams. He has an open line of communication and responds quickly. His lectures are to the point and specific. Great professor to have!

Hybrid course (enough said for a math class). He did the best he could for a mostly online course. Watch his videos and you'll be fine. Practice exams are IDENTICAL to the actual exams but do account for a large part of your grade. He drops a couple quizzes. Do your online homework and quizzes along with the practice exams and you will pass

This class is mostly online. He teaches on a chalk board which is hard to read. You have homework and quizzes every week, as well an an exam every 4 weeks. If I were you, find a math class that is more in person because this class was very hard.

Took Math 150 as a hybrid course with the lectures online but with an in person recitation. Lectures were long but very easy to understand and helped a lot with homework and quizzes. Exams were fair and not very difficult. Would take again

I took it winter 2020 (5 weeks) and it was heavily based off hw. It was 45% of the grade and its on MML . Its 10 assignments on 3 topics each day Mon-Thurs. I personally found it not too bad but it was the only class I took over winter. It was hard but the exams were all on MML and it was open note. Go the SI. It helped so much.

MATH151 being all online concerned me coming into the semester, due to my little knowledge of any calculus, however Dr. Mayhook had amazing and lectures that explained all the concepts really well. The lectures can be a bit long, but they are informative.

I don't love math and never took a calculus course, but Mayhook made the all-online lectures somewhat interesting and informative. The HW assignments were fair and the exams were reasonably difficult. If you watch the lectures, take notes, and do the assigned problems, you should do okay in this class. Overall a good professor.

Professor Mayhook was great, did a great job teaching the material. The tests were not too difficult and the homework didn't take too too long which is good because we had an assignment every week. He really seems to enjoy mathematics as well

Professor Mayhook is easily one of the best professors to receive for Math 166 at Iowa State. His lectures are example heavy, which gives you ample resources to understand the concept he is teaching and to use for studying. While his exam review sessions could be a little underwhelming, he was always more than happy to answer questions one on one.

Similar course set up to Math 150, Class has 1 recitation a week where a quiz is given otherwise lectures can and will be skipped. Two attempts given on each test just do all your HW

I had Mayhook as a TA for MATH265. His board work was really good and I really enjoyed listening to him work on problems during recitation. Nothing really bad to say about him. I would honestly have loved to have him as my lecturer too.
