I took Professor Thomas both semesters my freshman year in Liberal Studies and really enjoyed both of his classes. He allows you to explore your interests in connection to in class texts. While some criteria for essays are specific, most of the writing decisions are left up for you. Also the texts are super interesting!

OMG take this Professor. I took Thomas for both semesters of freshman year and made a ratemyprof account just to hype him up. He leaves amazing feedback and gave me so much confidence as a writer. Highly recommend. If you love writing he will make you even better. Got an A on every paper, just follow his feedback and ask for help when you need it.

The assignments are extremely specific to the point that they get confusing. He probably wants us to garner good writing habits but there is little room for exploration or experimentation in your writing. I did surprisingly well in his class but I realllllyyy had to work hard for it.

Professor Thomas is an inspirational person. He tries his best to explain every writing assignment and makes sure everyone get it. He is accessible outside of the class, just email or talk to him after class - he is a very nice guy! He might be a tough grader, but if you work hard and understand the reading materials, you will be successful!!!

You may have been good at writing before, but if you aren't flexible enough to change your writing style to his, then you won't get good grades. His teaching style is not the greatest either since he might appear to be patient at first, but then become frustrated if you question him for commenting something on your essay.

Professor Thomas is one of the best professors Ive ever had at NYU. Hes more concerned with making sure that students produce their best work than he is with reaching a certain deadline. He gives great feedback, hes funny, and he makes class interesting (to the point where you forget that youre in class). You will have to work for your grade.

I don't really prefer this professor because he has a very selective taste, you literally have to change your whole writing style to his standards to even get an A. I feel as if he can be an amazing professor if he really opened his mind, but unfortunately this is not the case. If you get this professor, PREPARE YOURSELF.
