She takes attendance but you can miss a few classes. She grades the midterm and final super easy. She posts the questions ahead of time and you can ask her anything about them.

This professor lectures at an unreasonable pace. You'll want the slides pulled up. Get ready to write as fast as possible. She is not accommodating to student circumstances and apathetic towards appeals from students. Avoid if possible. Grading is relatively lax but she is ultimately unreachable to students and her lectures are at record-pace.

Overall, she is a good professor. There was a midterm exam and a final exam, every week had a 10 question quiz. There were 3 reading summaries dues before the midterm and 3 due before the final, 1 page each. Everything was open note and mainly the exam and quiz questions were word for word from the notes.

Professor Medina is a really kind person who cares about students, she is very understanding if you have any issues pop up. However if you are a procrastinator be careful because she leaves all the martials open from the semester and you can do them at you leisure.

Comment:
I don't think that Dr. Medina is the issue, but she is also not the solution. I had her for PLS 201 and that class has made me drop my public policy major. The class is boring, and is mostly programming in R. She is good as far as grading, but the class itself is so unnecessary tedious that its overall not a good experience.

Material was very easy, lectures were pre recorded and theres a lot of reading material. Nice lady, awful professor. She wont help students if they arent understanding the material she even guided me in the wrong direction. Her quizzes are like guessing games, even if its in the material for why its right shell justify why its wrong.

There is 3 exams and each exam is 22% of the grade. The exams are very very vague - it's very hard to know what she expects you to answer. Yes, she is very nice but we need better grades. She just reads of slides and sometimes it's hard to understand her. Going to class is not worth it at all. I wouldn't recommend taking her but you might like it.

not much to say. the class is pretty boring & she just goes over the material. she drags through the lecture & it is so boring. really hard to stay awake during class. the grading isnt bad, but you will work a lot with database searches through a computer programming app which is kinda hard. overall not a great class but will keep your gpa up.

She is seriously an awesome professor! She is so caring and understanding. As long as you communicate with her about what you need she is very accomodating. Her exams are super easy and so are the assignments. I would 100% recommend her especially for a requied course!

She was an awesome professor and was always willing to help her students. As long as you show up and pay attention to her lectures its an easy A. She has very easy pop quizzes and her exams are straight forward. She does a review before each exam which is extremely helpful.

Mariana Medina was a great prof! Had her class as an 8am which honestly was terrible and i probably would have done better if i took it at a later time because i could never make it to class. Lots of pop quizzes but she posts the slides for her lectures on D2L a few days before class so you know what the Q's are before hand! 4 exams total!

Mariana is a gem. I took an 8 am with her and we never stayed past 8:50 for lecture. She also posts the lectures the night before, but there are pop quizzes so if you don't go, you might miss out on a grade. You also aren't graded on a lot in this course, so you should probably go. You also have to read the book and write responses on it!
