I was unbothered if lessons were moved from in person to zoom, especially given the circumstances that she commutes (on her own dime) from both the main campus & the regional campus here at Stamford. She is dedicated and cares about the success of her students & will go that extra mile for them, especially for those who actively partake. Loved her!

I took this course because I needed a "w" but I left this class with so much more! I wouldn't say the course was life changing but my writing went from zero to hero! Professor Jarchow managed to make a 5-week online summer course fun, interesting and I couldn't wait for the lecture videos to appear because there were always Easter eggs to find!

StudentAdmin listed the modality as In Person. However, Prof. Jarchow consistently moved the lecture to zoom with <30 minutes notice. This was one of many unexpected changes. Prof. Jarchow attempts to make a relaxed environment but the course was so disorganized I found it hard to learn. On the rare occasion when the course made sense, it was easy.

She is a super sweet professor and you can tell she really cares about her students. SHow to class each time so you can pass, participation is required. I just don't like the fact that she is not very organized and tends to get off track

She is a joy to have as a teacher, and is obviously very experienced and talented in teaching French to beginning and advanced students. I look forward to taking another class of her's for French 1102.

This class was by far one of the hardest I have taken. However, professor Jarchow was constantly available for essay help and questions. My writing has vastly improved since taking this class. Not only were the assignments interesting, the content was also fantastic. I am grateful I was able to have the experience of taking this class.

French 1102 was an amazing experience. Professor Jarchow helped me succeed to the highest degree and provided me with the materials to advance my French to the level required. Not only is professor Jarchow an extremely intelligent and caring professor, she also will stand by her students no matter what. I would highly recommend this class, 10/10.

Quite possibly the most unprofessional professor I've ever had. She clearly cares about her students, but not enough to respond to her emails and actually plan for her classes. Only take her class if you want someone to waste your time for a whole semester.

Professor Jarchow hobbled together a great class! She had a week to prepare because UConn asked her to teach this class that she had never taught only a few days before the semester!! Anyhow, she helped me both in and outside of class and I appreciated her candor. She helped me get job with the skills I learned in the class! Late on grades, though.

In this class we barely learned anything all semester. Now that it's time for the final, all of us students are anxious for the test and worried about our grades (which most of us don't even know because our grades aren't in). We really are not prepared at all for this exam. I've never felt so helpless about a class before.

Prof Jarchow is really funny and nice but the class was super unorganized. Due dates were always pushed back because things weren't graded (only graded about 2/25ish assignments). Lectures weren't very helpful for the quizzes, and she didn't really reply to emails. Didn't have time to read 2 of the 6 required books because it was so disorganized

Prof Jarchow was nice, but her class was disorganized, lacked direction, and lacked depth in the material. I couldn't count on her to hand work back/responded to emails on time- quizzes were on topics our class was always ill prepared for. I get this course was last minute for her- I don't like giving bad rates- but I feel like I need to say this.

Professor Jarchow is very smart, but I wish we learned more. I feel like she wasn't always prepared for class and she never submitted grades on time, or at all, even though we had many assignments. It left me feeling very stressed out by the time we had finals. I know she got this class late but I think that doesn't justify her behavior.

The negative reviewer above has some valid points, especially with getting grades/feedback back quickly. HOWEVER, given that Professor Jarchow was given only a week to prepare for this class-a last minute emergency-plus she had never the course before, I think she did pretty great given the circumstances. She is one of the most kind profs at UConn.

Extremely unprofessional. She does not return any grades, and her online quizzes are based on material she has not taught us. Truly the most disorganized professor I have had. She tries hard to be edgy and "one of the kids" instead of focusing on pertinent information for the course. She is clearly intelligent, but unfortunately does not teach.

Kathleen Jarchow is an exceptional professor. It is clear that she is passionate about what she teaches and really wants her students to succeed. She is funny and charismatic, so her lectures are always engaging, and to top it off she's a fair grader. She's one of those professors who you want to buy a drink because she's such a lovely person.

Comment:
Prof. Jarchow wants to be more of a partner in an intelligent conversation than a scary lecturer who quizzes you on every date and name. She is knowledgeable and definitely likeable (do your work though!), however at times she would go off on tangents and seem to try a bit too hard to be "the cool prof" (idk why, she's awesome without it).
