This class was a joke. If you want to teach yourself coding or if you already know the material this is the class for you.

Extremely experienced & knowledgeable, but has a very particular way of teaching. Expects students to have received the same level of pre-req instruction, despite high pct of transfers. Graded by two research "papers," midterm, final, and untimed "quizzes" from the book and lectures. Oddly, he reviewed the syllabus at the start of every class.

Be sure to attend his class to record his lectures because it will be helpful for your homework, midterm, final. The homework are 'quizzes' but not timed. His 100+ lecture slides are confusing, so I highly suggest record his lecture. the projects are research proj, and he grades it very generously. overall, I feel like I teach myself in this class.

Honestly his lectures are boring. He gives you the code for projects and stuff he assigns its way he teaches. If you study then you will learn from the code he gives you. You will also learn more from the interactive textbook than from him. You're going to have to teach yourself a lot. He's very helpful and nice but won't really prepare you for 182

Boring and long lectures that often go off tangent. I didnt bother going to class most of the time and just did his online book work which taught me more. I was ahead of the class by a whole month by doing that. Youre definitely going to have to teach yourself if you take his class. Prepare for 182 after you finish this class. Youre gonna needit

I dont feel confident after this class. He knows what he is talking about, but the teaching is terrible. Lectures are long and boring. He gives us all the code for the assignments so there really isnt much learning. I felt like I taught myself everything through the textbook. He did help me when I asked for it, which is a good thing.

Drobman was an awful professor. Great guy and his class is super easy but you won't lean much in his class. You have many projects and he gives you practically the entire algorithm. From what he gives you, you need to learn it yourself. Good guy but can not teach.

Comment:
This class with Drobman is self taught. He lectures for 3 hours, and he makes it very clear that he gives 90% of the code for every program, and tells you to do the other 10% but it is extremely difficult to follow him, therefore that 10% becomes hard to do. He's not a bad guy, just an unskilled professor. He lectures heavy for a hands-on class.

He is good professor and it was the easy class only because it was one unit. He has his own website that you can have access and he post all of his PowerPoint lecture and labs within his website. He already gives you the code, but you just need to modify some codes that he may require you to add or delete. His midterms and final are all open book.

This was a really difficult class. This may be your first class in Computer Science which is bad. It is clear he understands Java but doesn't explain it good. You will have to do a lot of self-teaching to pass. He is a good man and caring but not the best teacher. I would try to avoid.

Comment:
Nice guy but not a good professor. It was his first time teaching this course at CSUN so that made the class slightly easier and more frustrating. He grades subjectively on 7 labs, 2 projects and midterm/final. Talks the whole 3 hours, doesn't give you time to work during the lab portion. Hard to follow, doesn't explain well. Constantly off topic.
