Comment:
Dr. Turner is amazing. She explains music theory so that anyone can understand it. The homeworks can take a while but they are usually pretty interesting so it's worth it. This was the only good flipped class experience I've had: class discussions were very lively and offered a wide range of interpretations. I would recommend this course to anyone.

Her Arts in Disent of the Civil Rights Movement class is highly fascinating as it provides more details and alternative perspectives to what is taught in most schools. Provides fantastic feedback on the two essays of the class, and is structured as a student led seminar. Final project is to pick an art of your choice and analyze. Very flexible/kind

Her casual class conversations are fun, and her lectures are also really great! Moodle quizzes are due before class every MWF and can take a while, seeing that a portion of each quiz usually consists of listening to certain music and analyzing it using your score book. Our class found test papers to be graded somewhat harshly though.

Dr. Turner is an inspiring teacher who is passionate about history and brings excitement to discussions. There are a lot of readings and quizzes but they are mostly straightforward and interesting. She is also really easy to approach and gives good feedback on papers. There are also extra credit opportunities. Overall I definitely recommend her.

Extremely passionate and excited about her subject. Lectures are very interesting, and she does a great job of directing class discussions. Responsive and helpful outside of class. The online quizzes before classes do require effort, but two attempts are allowed and the quizzes are a plurality of the final grade. One of my favorite professors!

She is a nice person, but there is a LOT of reading and homework for this class. She assigns three quizzes a week, but lets you take them twice. Every class is a lecture, and her tests are really specific. You're required to write one essay and one report on a concert, which aren't that bad but she's a tough grader.

Dr. Turner is a good professor. She does a lot of lectures but incorporates music videos and documentaries into them. We had an essay that took up most of the year and we had to do many revisions on it. Quizzes are a large part of your grade but we could take them twice. She also gave extra credit by going to concerts and writing reports on them.

Excellent professor who is extremely knowledgeable and great at communicating. Teaches music literature with a simultaneous coverage of music history. Pre-class quizzes are helpful to understanding material and make a large portion of the final grade, although they can be lengthy. Tests are extensive, but without surprises. Take her if you can!
