Progressive/liberal mindset, not too bad. Weekly online lab that can take up to an hour. Take the class.

The class is set up with assignments and lectures that engages students in the course and take interest in geography. Another perk is that he shows the occasional documentary or movie, which provides good examples of the relevance of the subjects being discussed. Pay attention and turn in stuff on time and a B or an A is pretty much guaranteed.

If a good professor meant making jokes about how not from Texas you are, Dr. Ritz would be the best. But he's a great professor regardless.

Hard exams (midterm and final only) 100 point scale. This is not an easy class, avg. on 1st exam was a "C", with many. One of the few honest professors though- he comes out and says he only teaches undergraduate because he has to. Doesnt hold with stale campus traditions/hazes, which is awesome and makes him worth taking, even with hard exams.

Professor Ritz is decent. Take good notes because most of the stuff he says are on the test. Go to class everyday he takes attendance through top hat. You have to complete labs via Pearson. Only two test midterm and final. No reviews so you have to study your notes.

Professor Ritz is an amazing professor, he's the reason that I'm now getting my minor in geography. His class is really fun and enjoyable and really easy too. There are only two tests, the midterm and the final, and it's only over lectures so showing up is important because he also tells some questions on the tests during lectures.

Extremely passionate about the subject, and incorporates examples of his previous work into lectures. All grades are based on short written assignments (500 words) and long (1000+) papers, but he gives students the freedom to choose the topic of their papers and final research paper (10+ pages). Approachable and easy to speak with.

As he is passionate for geography, he expects his students know a considerable amount. While he is not a hard professor, he makes the subject a bit more difficult for those who do not care for geography. He is not just an easy A course but if you can work for it, it is not that hard. His tests are a mixture of labs, lectures, and textbook.

Dr Ritz is hands down the best professor I've had. I absolutely loved the class and how interesting he made it. There are homework labs that you need to stay aware of, also attendance is part of your grade so do not miss class! Textbook can help since he asks questions on the reading. To pass his tests attend lecture, take good notes & do the labs!

Very good professor. Easy class if you pay attention in lecture. Tests are straightforward and not too difficult. Attendance is required and there were a few documentaries shown as well as hints to test questions. Overall, it was a fun class.

Make sure you attend the lectures. Attendance counts for credit. The textbook for the course is pretty annoying (that is if you choose to read it). He posts his lectures online. You will have to spend 1-2 hours on labs aka online homework every 2 weeks or so. Overall, superb prof.

As someone who is typically very bored with geography, Dr. Ritz made this class actually kind of interesting. Pretty easy to get an A if you go to lecture and take good notes. There was a good amount of assigned reading, but I never did it, and it ended up being fine. Overall a solid class and a solid prof.

Lectures were good. Material was interesting. Sometimes would let us out early. Tests were short papers you would write outside of class. Short assignments were simple and easy. Nice grader and cares about the students and likes what he teaches. He does take attendance which accounts for 10 percent of your grade. Final project is hardest part.
