I don't recommend taking this professor for any class. Her due dates for discussion and quizzes are usually only over 24 hours, which is really inconvenient. She is incredibly tough when it comes to grading, and very specific. Her tests are awful, and she is no help, I have emailed her numerous times, never helped. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE HER.

I've found some of my true friends in this class. Liu is funny and makes learning a language so easy, always has a good story about her son and is very understanding if homework is late or if you miss class. Expectations are clear and easy to follow. She is also an easy grader, and understand mistakes happen.

Be sure to stay caught up on things. There is a lot of homework and she is generally tough. We had vocab quizzes pretty much every day when I took her, and they were usually pretty tough since there were so many words to know. She knows how to make things fun, and I'm still dreaming about the dumplings her mom brought in for us.

Liu Laoshi is a great teacher. She works hard to make sure you understand and get time speaking the lang in class. She is accessible, funny + cares about your learning. I would love to take more classes with her in the future. Hard like any language, but she manages to make it fun and pretty painless.

I loved her :) Yes this class is difficult (it IS Chinese after all) and she moves pretty fast thru material, but overall I learned so much from taking her. It's a very good foundation class. She's really adorable, funny, and understanding. If you have any issues, just talk to her, and she'll be able to help you out.

Liu Laoshu is cute, funny, undestanding and she aslo loves sarcasm, making all the students bonded well. Lots of HW because there are vocab quiz everyday but she's changing. Me and my classmates joked that our load of chinese HW everyday made us have no social life during the week. One time we learn to make dumpling outside of class. Love her!

This was her first semester here and Liu Laoshi was really nice. She is awesome to get to know if you go to her office hours, which she has a lot of. She's lenient on homework. Downside: her lectures are super confusing and I don't feel like I learned super well, but again this is her first time here and I think she tried very hard.
