Only lectures and not a lot of group work. He prefers you don't use electronics to take notes. Participation is very important. He uses flashcards to call on people to answer questions. He assigns a reading report every class which is not that hard to do but the readings are very long. Assigns two papers, he is a hard grader but gives good feedback

Though there are a lot of readings, he gives students great feedback and is very helpful. He wants you to pass, and wants you to earn the grade you work for.

Didn't really enjoy this class and although the professor tried to make it interesting, it never was. We read about 60-80 pages a week of hard articles. Then we wrote two weekly responses (150 words). Midterm paper (40%) and final paper (45%), each about a page and a half. While the length isn't difficult, he's a HARD grader. Don't mess up.

Good class. Engaging lectures, but dependent on the reading - do that. Wanted contribution in discussions, but no pressure (could always "pass"). HW (100 words) due each class to verify you'd done the reading; graded for completion, but he read them and gave feedback anyway. Grade was 2 essays (40% and 60%) , but generously graded.

Great professor! I dislike Philosophy but I love his teaching style and how he wants everyone to engage in the lectures he teaches. He knows that as a student his class is not our only class so we have 150 word papers to write every two days every week. You can tell he is very caring and respected by many. Love this teacher.

I really enjoyed Professor Fisher's class even though I dislike philosophy. Great teacher. Before every class he gave us a reading to write a 150 word reflection on, and then spent the rest of the class time encouraging discussion about the reading. It was a reasonable work-load and he was very clear about his expectations in terms of grading.
