Kenneth is the definition of a professor who cares about his subject and his students. His enthusiasm for teaching this class was infectious. He's thorough but fair in his grading, and if you ever need any help on your papers, he's more than willing to give you helpful feedback. By far the best recitation I've had at Carolina.

Kenneth is a really fun TA! He made recitation interesting, and loved showing us funny videos and film clips. Recitation didn't always feel like it related to the main class, but it was still fun and engaging. He also provides great feedback on papers and was very accessible to students for extra help and guidance.

OMG Kenneth is the BEST! Take his class if you have the opportunity!!! Amazing prof. Wow, just wow. He did a lecture on film noir that was exceptional. Obviously very passionate about the topics he covers. He is also incredibly approachable and gives very good feedback on assignments and ideas for assignments.

Really cool guy. Lectures were engaging and fun. By far the best recitation that I've ever been in. Instead of talking about class readings, we analyzed course films and compared and contrasted them to other works. He can be a harsh grader at times, but I'd definitely recommend taking a recitation with Kenneth!

This class is so much fun! Mr. Lota really loves all of the texts assigned. Although they were not necessarily texts that I would choose to read myself, they were all so interesting. This class was a really awesome way to read fun things and talk about them in small and large groups. Definitely take a class with this professor if you can!

This was such a good class! I took this class as my "fun" class for the semester and it was so interesting. There is a lot of variety, as you cover multiple genres, and the professor is great. He's very enthusiastic about the material and you can tell he loves teaching. Would definitely take another class with him again.

Prof Lota was super funny and I enjoyed coming to lectures. Novels are from a wide range of genres and interesting. Class is discussion based so it isn't very boring. You turn in your reading notes from the novel / story that you were supposed to read each day in class, so that is an easy grade and attendance. No pop quizzes or curveballs.

Loved the readings and the in-class lectures. Grades based on of a few papers and overall participation. For this class, there was a lot of reading, but it wasn't too bad. Very low-stress class as there are no daily quizzes and pretty fun in class discussion. Strongly recommend.

Really cares about making sure you understand the material and instructions for papers, always available for questions, and office hours are very helpful. Some may not realize that he has to teach the material he is given, and he tries to make each unit as interesting as possible. His feedback on papers truly make you a better writer! I recommend!

From the reviews I saw, I thought Lota would be a better professor. I'm not saying he's bad, but the class is really boring. He tends to go on about things that don't really seem to matter. The info he has to cover is boring and he does a good job with what he has but the day to day class is dull. It's kind of an easy A though if you put in effort.

I was really grateful that I had Mr. Lota for ENGL 105. He is an extremely knowledgable and passionate instructor. If you show any concern for the subject matter, he will do anything to help. Although the course setup itself poses many restrictions on this class and the instructor, Mr. Lota definitely made the most of what he's given.

Mr. Lota was a really good instructor for ENGL 105. At first the class was extremely boring and he played off as unapproachable but as the semester progressed he opened up more and made the class enjoyable. He really knows his stuff and really enjoys teaching. I went to his office hours every week to get feedback and he was super helpful.
