Comment:
Avoid taking ML with this professor. He makes even relatively simple stuff early on hard to understand and didnt give us back midterm or final papers. He sometimes asks basic questions in class and nobody can answer him. After I learned the material on my own, it was obvious that they were simple and it shows how nobody understood anything

The worst professor that you will have to learn is Machine learning. Choose Coursera or Udacity or edx or even youtube to learn Machine Learning, But never take his class. He won't share the evaluated Midterm or final papers, Even if you have worked really really hard you will never get to know what mistake you made in your exam.

One of the worst professors you will ever encounter in school. He will teach you in such a way that you will stop understanding linear regression. He neither prepare his own slides to teach (Uses Tony Jebara slides ). One of the worst parts of the class, you can't even ask for help from the TA,Because they even don't have an idea of what he teaches.

The subject itself is quite complicated. Prof Dvorkin had to rush through the basics to get through the real meat of the calculations and algorithms. Overall, hes a pretty nice guy in and out of class. He gives projects which can balance out the grade. He grades leniently based on the work you show him. Hes understanding as long as you dont bs

2 weeks were spent doing basic lagrange multiplier problems from calc 3. Homework solutions after hw1 were never posted despite multiple students' requests. Slide material uses language found in the literature, but never explicitly defines any terms. And then asks you for the definitions on tests. It doesn't help that he is condescending.

Yury is a very knowledgeable person in his field and welcomes students from different academic background. The homework takes a lot of time but the midterm wasnt bad if you understand the homework. Project is important but you can always get good guidance from him.

Stricter than he look, but fair. Unwilling to compromise on his grading, but helps a lot at his office hours. Requires a good project to get a high grade. He jokes a lot, but not always funny.

Lectures were interesting & informative. Yuri was available after classes and his office hours are useful & usually not very busy. Homework was hard, but grading was lenient. Exams were easier and related to homework problems. As long as you do the hw and keep up with readings (text book + he assigns a lot of papers), its not too hard to get an A

Tough. Homework makes up to 40% of the final grade, and they are difficult to solve even you have attended the lecture. Never expect a good grade if you JUST read the textbook.

Dvorkin is a great prof, but he really makes you work for your grade. He assigns lots of reading and his exams are difficult, too. Tough but fair grader.
