Comment:
Great professor overall. He makes lectures as interesting as they can be, and the grading criteria is very clear (and pretty easy). Cracks a lot of jokes in class, hardly anyone laughs which makes me feel bad for him, but I think they're funny. Doesn't respond too well to emails, but his classes are clear enough for you to not need clarification.

Gosnell is a very interesting guy and makes lectures fun. Overall homework in this class was not too bad and there is also a group project. He really enjoyed doing weekly quizzes and make sure you get the zybooks done on time.

Comment:
The last class I had with Gosnell was CS5300 (Database Systems). This class was extremely easy until the last 3 weeks, in which Gosnell decided that he had horribly under-assigned and he assigned a lot of things in a very short time period, including a take-home final. I think this class was more consistent in past semesters.

I had Gosnell for 3 classes in 1 semester (I can rate him for each class). CS3100, Software Engineering I, is just a large group project. The groups were picked by Gosnell (not the students). Each group made a game and presented it to the class. Projects included Connect 4, Minesweeper, and even Donkey Kong.

I had Gosnell for 3 classes in 1 semester. The only one that was hard was CS3800 Operating Systems, but the average grade was still a B. There were some challenging C++ programming assignments in CS3800. Gosnell seemed more prepared for this class than either of the other 2. Excellent instructor.

I have had Gosnell for 4 classes, starting with cs2500. Gosnell likes to keep the grades high. He is a decent lecturer and competent course coordinator, but keep your eye on Canvas. He also likes in-class activities. When I took Algorithms over the summer with Gosnell, the average test scores were 92.9%, 95.2%, and 95.6% (according to Canvas).

Not much work in this class - the only real assignment is a group project over the course of the semester, with a demo midway through and a final presentation at the end. Gosnell is lenient but fair - don't expect to completely slack and still do well. Passing doesn't take much, though.

Hands down my favorite professor at MST. The lectures that he teaches are inherently difficult to keep your focus, but he tries to make things interesting. He has a goofy sense of humor and genuinely cares about his students. If you want to enjoy a class and learn at least something, take it with Gosnell.

Comment:
He is super awesome. 1570 can be hard if you have never programmed before, but it's not too bad. 1200 content was super boring, but he made it tolerable. He is really easy going and will go out of his way to help how he can. Probably my favorite professor I have had to date. I was very happy that I got him again this semester for 3800

The class content was boring, but Gosnell's very dry humor redeemed it a bit. Explained the content very well, homework was not very hard. He was very helpful with test preparations as well.

Although attendance isn't required it will help you learn the material better. Gives a good outline of what is going to be on the tests. Compared to the other teachers offering this class, he was definitely the clear choice.
