Make sure you go to class- in class assignments will bite your grade in the ass if you dont do them. Tests are straightforward if you pay attention.

Akers is a good lecturer, he values group projects more than I, and probably most students would like. Class can be pretty dry, but the grading criteria is always very clear and you will receive the grade you earn.

There are individual projects but no group projects. It is a weighted class. 60% test based - show up for class because there will be a lot of note taking. If you don't show up, you will be completely confused on the test. Highly intelligent professor and hilarious.

Pete is highly informative. Grading criteria is clear. There are random in class assignments, so if you don't show up, you just don't get the points for that day. Overall, extremely knowledgeable and good professor!

I took the global environment with Professor Akers. 4 tests total including the final exam, none of which are cumulative. Very straight forward material all formatted in multiple choice tests. Few projects graded solely on completion. Don't work your butt off on them. All notes are taken in class though so attendance is mandatory but great teacher

very interesting lectures, little and easy homework, test-heavy, you need to go to every class for information, but it is easy information to retain. Study for tests. cool guy

Prof Akers is a breath of fresh air in the world of sustainability and earth science classes. He's pretty young (I think he got his PhD a year or two ago), and lectures in a way that is easy to understand, realistic, and yet, not terrifying. This is the first class I ever took that didn't leave me depressed after our climate change lecture.

Comment:
Professor Akers is a really good professor. He definitely knows what he is talking about and genuinely cares about the material. Attendance isn't required but he only posts a portion of the notes online so I wouldn't recommend skipping. Tests are semi-difficult. Assignments are easy. Don't buy textbook.

Comment:
The class I took with Pete was pretty easy -- just a Gen Ed course. Attendance isn't included in the final grade, but unless you have a friend in the class who takes good notes, skipping probably isn't the best idea. I wouldn't recommend buying the textbook either; there are no assigned readings. I never even opened mine.
