Comment:
Passionate about her subject area and understanding of students' circumstances, but irritatingly disorganized. Apparent lack of communication between her and her lab instructor about what was happening in the other part of the course. Told us to skim 2 chapters and then focused on them in the final exam study guide.

AVOID! The lectures have no substance to prepare you for the midterms and she doesn't provide a clear rubric for the assignments. Its so unclear what her expectations are for the exams especially since the exams consist of long answer questions worth 10 marks each! Treena is nice but unfortunately she doesn't know how to teach this class.

Treena is very sweet but I feel like I didn't learn a single thing this entire semester. For each topic she assigns entire textbook chapters, sometimes hour long videos which are testable, readings and other videos. She's very unclear on what is testable and her "lectures" don't teach anything. Don't take if you're expecting to learn from lectures

I could listen to Treena talk about Biological Anthropology for hours. Assignment instructions are clear, and tests are straightforward, so you should be able to get an A if you try.

I love this prof. She is very calm. if her students going through something she understand their situations and give you any support you need regarding this course. she gives notes but not sure of that enough so read the textbook. go to her class if its online or in-person she gives out more info. she is an easy marker

Treena is quick to reply to emails and is respectful. However, i found no value in her lectures as she rambles and doesnt test on them. I loved the textbook but it was never tested on yet was required. She assigns LONG papers and videos for each week, some of which are supplementary but not labeled as so. The projects are massive and worth little.

She grades assignments like a saint! The descriptions of assignments seem daunting but they were not difficult at all. Just put in a bit of effort and she'll give you 100%. Her finals were very fair and were open to view and submit from 8am to 11:59pm(During COVID term so might change). But she is very understanding and allowed deadline extensions

The course was basically biology 30, if you've taken that before then this will be really easy. She's a nice prof and always welcomes any questions. The textbook wasn't mandatory and I never needed it.

Prof. Swanston was a very nice and well-spoken person. She explained what was expected of you clearly and the questions on the written tests were fair. As someone who is quite shy, I loathed presenting my final essay to the class. Do not take this class if you have a fear of public speaking by yourself. Otherwise, a solid choice.

She was the nicest prof I ever had. However, there is not much opportunities to get extra credit as there was only 2 midterms, paper and final. 2nd midterm brought most of the class down and the paper wasn't worth much so it didn't help a lot. Make sure to read your textbook as I made the mistake of not making time to read the chapters.

She was a really nice person but a meh teacher. The slides are okay but not super in depth. There wasn't a lot of things she graded - two midterms, a paper and a final which doesn't leave a lot of room for a grade grade.

Super nice lady but brutal biology teacher. Exams are very difficult and test you on how well you can remember obscure specific details. She doesnt put complete notes on blackboard which sucks because she goes over the notes on the board extremely fast making it easy to fall behind.

Treena is a caring prof, she is very approachable and does her best to help students who are struggling. The class I took with her was not difficult and her exams are fairly easy as long as you study a decent amount and pay attention in class. We didn't use the textbook much in class but I found it very useful to fill in extra things in my notes.

Dr. Swantson is very kind and caring for her students, but she doesn't seem to actually teach the content. I left class most days not understanding things and feeling like I had to completely teach the material myself. She doesn't put her notes up online which is frustrating because sometimes she goes through the material too fast.

She seems to really care about the success of each of her students. Her lecture slides are put online but are not helpful at all for studying, so make sure you have the textbook and know the material from there. Exams are very straight-forward. Didn't go to class at all, but still got an A-

One of the most frustrating classes I've taken at Macewan. Does not give clear direction for assignments, and seemed disorganized. Lectures had general concepts but she never comes to a clear point. Didn't really learn a lot of new things. Labs were easy worksheets you could have done at home. Probably good prof for intro anth, but nothing higher.

She's very clear about what will be on exams, fair marker. Tests are from slides. Going to glass makes it easier to understand slides as they are simple. This course expands a bit on bio 30.
