Dr. Coffman was one of the best professors I have ever had, she is so passionate and knowledgeable about Political Ecology. I had no idea what to expect coming into the course, but it ended up being the best class I took at JMU. It changed the way I think about a lot of issues. Take her!!

Dr. Coffman is an awesome teacher. She is very passionate about the subject matter and very engaging with the class. It is not an easy A gen ed class, but is very enjoyable. Dr. Coffman is the type of professor that makes JMU as special as it is.

she is a great professor, she is so helpful. the class is very difficult if it doesn't not appeal to your interest and you've never taken an environmental class before but if you work hard a B is doable. they give study guides for the tests that have A LOT of info but are helpful. homework's take forever and aren't easy but help boost your grade

Had the class with Dr. C and Dr. Ferenbaugh and thought they were bothe good. Spent lots of time outside class helping me with homework and conceps. Did have to read the book. Dr. C was fun and had great examples from Africa. Showed a great video on Cane Toads for one class.

She is such a kind and gentle woman...very knowledgeable with a great sense of humour. My class she co-taught with Dr. Ferenbaugh who lectures more, but when I have come in for help she explains things so clearly. I would absolutely take another class with her!

Wow. What an amazing class. Definitely makes you think more globally. Coffman was an amazing teacher and really gets you to think about things outside of the U.S. The tests could be a little hard but if you go to class, take notes, do the reading and study, you won't have a problem. Take this class if you want to learn!

As a GenEd, this class is HARD. Multiple choice tests and essay...very very hard to get an A. Topics are interesting towards the end of the semester. If had a choice between another GenEd, take another...its not worth spending all of your time on this class if ur not interested in the material, and HARD to get an A.

Dr. Coffman is an amazing professor, but she does expect a lot from her students. She doesnt teach the class as if it were a gen ed, but you will walk away knowing so much, so it is worth it! If you are willing to put in the effort you can do well. Her exams are not difficult, despite what people say, just study and read! Highly Recommend!

excellent professor!! the topics covered were so interesting and she was very clear on what was expected and did a great job explaining the information and helping the class to understand the material. Lots of reading but very interesting. Tests are multiple choice and essay, I did all the readings and did well on the tests. Take here, she's great!

class was long. she said things that i didn't always understand, and when i did the tests were close to impossible to make sense of. so study hard and go to the review sessions. otherwise, in terms of the teacher herself, she is a really nice lady.

Very nice lady. Is an anthropologist herself so she is very smart on the subject. Does not teach the class as if it were a Gen-Ed class but as a grad class, very tough and detailed exams, attendance not required but you should go because she puts up tons of notes which are not put on Blackboard.
