Comment:
His online class was so unorganized. We have done about 4 assignments in his POL 320 class and not one student received a grade or feedback from him. He is not responsive to emails. His syllabus said we have 10 assignments but have done about 4 assignments plus the final. He is not responsive with any students and just gives assignments.

I'm sure when taken in person it would have been better but professor was not accessible outside of zoom and only assigned 3 things and gave a week before finals week because we didn't have enough assignments. Didnot follow schedule. I would avoid taking if this class is still offered in the online format. Assigned paper that didn't relate to theme

Don't tale his 250 class before you took all the other SSP classes. He is a phenomenal teacher with phenomenal students, especially at the 250 level. Get ready to work, read, write, he hates people who complain (that's who say he's a tough grader, they always want extensions) Besides that he gives clear prompts on essays and rarely has tests. A++++

Such a cool and intelligent professor. We had two midterms, two essays, and the final. Very straight forward, read the chapters in the textbook and you will be good. Take him if you can.

Professor Karras is basically a walking textbook. He is so knowledgable and neutral which makes it easy to talk about your opinions. Study for his tests carefully because they are specific and full of information but if you take good notes you're good. I would definitely take his class again, you leave very informed.

Gave long lectures, do the work, review for the exams and do the papers. Lectures do get kind of boring but he knows a lot about the topic.

Talks non stop from the beginning of the class and doesn't stop. Class can be over and he is still writing on the board like nobody has class after. Has very bad time management. But knows what he is talking about.

Knows ALOT about PS. Listen to what he has to say. A lot of it is history but it's interesting. He is not bias towards past or present candidates so you won't be uncomfortable talking about your opinion, oh unless John Jay NY liberals interfere.I Learned a lot in this class. He never makes you feel stupid, will go on forever if u ask a ?.

Such a kind, intelligent professor. He writes lots of notes and can be a bit of a strict grader but I think it's fair to expect that in a 300 level course. He provides many opportunities for extra credit and has a cool personality if you ever sit down with him for a chat. If I have the chance I will for sure take him again.

He is a really great professor!! His lectures are pretty boring but he tries to keep the class alive! He takes forever to hand papers back! As for test, he tells you what is going to be on the exam. Everything on the exam is from the notes! Just make sure you take notes and don't skip class!! But he is really great! I really liked him!!

Didn't really like this class at all. He didn't ruined my interest in politics but it definitely decreased after this class. Had a government class in high school that talked all about politics & loved it, so I took this political science class and the guy talked about nothing but government (no debates on current events). Extremely tough grader.

Unfortunately the professor is beyond boring. You will find him talking from the beginning until the end. He does not keep you interested in the subject at all; thus, it is hard to pay attention. From my experience, I would not recommend taking him unless you just want to waste your time. He assigns a final paper at the end, which is easy.

Really wanted to like this professor/class but I just cannot. I learned nothing about about comparative politics b/c he isn't clear with teaching the subject. I agree with everything that was posted in the review below mine. This class was a complete waste of time. He did not follow the syllabus and the textbook wasn't used at all.

This was the worst class ever! Complete waste of my time we did nothing that pertained to comparative politics at all. He mumbled for 1.5 hrs 2x a week at us! Learned nothing and his writing assignment have nothing to do with classwork and are long and repetitive! He also takes FOREVER to hand anyhting back:( RUN AWAY AS FAST AS YOU CAN!

I wish all professors were like him. Incredible notes, teaches in a way that is memorable. He is very approachable and encourages you to see him if you're having difficulty. There were 2 writing assignments that were fairly easy, and about three test that were very easy if you pay attention in class and take down all his notes.

He is such a nice guy! His classes are very interesting because he is very enthusiastic about what he speaks about. This man lives and breaths political science. He does hand work back extremely late but the essays he gives are super easy. His test are a bit hard but he doesn't give you a review on the big point questions a class prior to the exam
