very difficult because it was online. he didn't explain anything, just sent website tutorials. the class was very confusing and I had no idea what I was doing the whole time. he did respond to emails quickly though

Professor Turcotte is a very tough grader, but also doesn't really give clear guidelines for what he expects out of the assignments. Not really easy to email with as he has resent the unclear instructions for assignments. The google earth assignments are very time consuming for only 20 points.. Not worth the frustration or taking the class.

Dr. Turcotte makes the format of the online class very easy to follow and understand. He always made sure he was available for students to contact him and was very friendly when you did. There was no final exam which was nice, so I would definitely recommend online GEOG 101 and Dr. Turcotte.

Dr. Turcotte is definitely an interesting guy... he is definitely very heavy on lectures and has billions of powerpoint slides but he is super cool with going slowly enough for everyone to write it down. The tests are really hard compared to classwork. Attendance is taken every day just by signing your name, but it is a class of almost 100 students.

Dr. Turcotte is an amazing professor. His teaching method for the class is excellent. If you take Python with him, write down everything he writes on the board. He really knows how to teach Python. He is also very nice and super helpful outside of class. His office is in the main office, so it seems intimidating, but don't hesitate to ask for help!

Super easy online class. No tests! Has quizzes for every 3 weeks or so and a few homework assignments. Pretty much there are 5 units and each unit has about 3 quizzes and a homework assignment which you have about 3 weeks to finish. Super easy! Didn't put in much time or effort

He assigns you to complete modules, which consist of the material for the week and then a quiz at the end of them. Basically, you end up teaching yourself. Lectures are about terms and what the different functions are, but not how to use them. He is very condescending and rude when you ask for help, making you feel bad about yourself.

the lab assignments are fairly simple, but the tests are really hard. he gives you modules and expects you to learn everything on your own, so he really doesn't teach the class. you basically teach yourself. he's a nice guy, but not a great teacher

Went over notes on powerpoint and chalk board. No real in depth explanation on notes. If you use the study guide he gives you and study couple nights in advance, you'll easily get a B or B- on the test.

DO NOT BUY THE BOOK! I bought the book and you do not use it. Total waste of money! Basically, he goes through powerpoints like there is no tomorrow. If you have a question, he says to check this slide or check that slide. He is not helpful. LAB: pointless. Doesn't really go with the class...

He does NOT clearly explain concepts. When questions are asked he just mumbles through them. Everything is quickly gone over through powerpoint. Test are term based and fairly difficult, much preparation is needed to get a B. Lab is pointless, basically we just do worksheets. The final is cumulative and still counts as the same % as a regular test.

Absolutely terrible class. He doesn't put up power points prior to class so you cannot follow along. Words the questions on the test ridiculously that even if you do study the power points you need to have a background in geography to even understand.

He teaches a bunch of material all at once then has a test over it, 3 tests and a final for the semester. Attendance is taken at random, usually when there are fewer people than normal in class. All of his tests are over powerpoints he provides.

He is really to smart to be teaching at a college level. He tries to explain stuff, but makes you feel stupid if you have to go to him outside of class for questions. He is a great professor though if you have him for an upper level class rather than a core 100 level class. I enjoyed my classes with him overall.

He is a really knowledgeable professor. Homework and labs are really easy, but test can be pretty lengthy and hard. The only really downside is if you go to him for help, he really doesn't help you that much...or makes you feel like he is to busy to help you and gives the impression that you are stupid. Overall, he is a decent professor.

Very hard class! He cancels class quite often. Does not help outside of class, and doesn't respond to e-mails. Overall, try not to get him as a teacher and you should be fine.
