Comment:
Dr. Legates is an amazing professor. He never lets his personal beliefs on climate change affect his teaching and is very unbaised and respectful. He is very responsive and is always eager to take time to explain things that we don't understand. He is funny and often cracks some dated jokes mid class. Very knowledgeable about statistics.

Professor Legates is a pretty chill professor so you won't have to lose your mind worrying about getting a good grade in this class. He keeps the lectures entertaining by cracking some jokes and will be real with you about the issues in class. Doesn't assign that much work and the tests are pretty easy.

Dr. Legates is a solid professor. The material he teaches is dry and boring, but he uses his dry sense of humor to make it at least a little more engaging. There are 3 exams that are pretty difficult, but the labs are easy and will boost your grade. He posts all the slides online

Comment:
The lectures are equation based. The equations are not well explained making the class material very hard to understand. There is not clarification of the material. There is a lack of help for those who do not understand the material. The class is about how the atmosphere works, but he does not believe in climate change.

I love this professor. He is the best professor I've ever met in US, very patient and respects students. He is willing to spend 1 whole hour to discuss your problem during the office time. Even though there are lots of homeworks, you can easily get the idea from his slides, which is very clear. No textbook, everything is from the slide. Hydrology.

Favorite professor by far! Geography is not a course that comes naturally to me or that I found interesting, but he made it fun and exciting. Tests reflect lectures clearly... so it is important to place emphasis on the slides. Must go to class for participation. Go to his review sessions they are very helpful. Overall, great great person!!!!

hes pretty cool I would recommend. I personally didn't do so great in the class because it was my first semester here and I was adjusting to the whole college outlook. it is a good course and good class but it just didn't do me justice. try to keep up with the classes and don't skip too many because it'll kill you in the end

Knowledgeable professor, very passionate about the subject. Class involves going over Powerpoints but going to class helps because easy iClicker questions help your grade. Exams are tough but if you study enough you can manage. Wouldn't suggest taking this for a breath requirement class.

Legates is a really nice guy/professor, but the class is super boring. If you're looking for a group D it's manageable but not an easy A. Only reason attendance is mandatory is because of clickers. Otherwise everything he uses is on Sakai.

I absolutely LOVE prof Legates!! I had no interest in taking the class and I considered switching my major because he made it so interesting! His exams are so easy. DO NOT BUY THE BOOK! he posts his own "book" online and that is what he teaches from because he wrote it. He is willing to help anyone and is FANTASTIC! TAKE HIS CLASS!

Nice guy, good sense of humor. Class is pretty boring, just going over slideshows that are already online so attendance isn't mandatory. NOT an easy A or B. Can memorize every word in the slideshows and only get around a 60% on exams. You're grade is based off of 3 exams and the final.

Legates is a very nice guy, and definitely knows the subject very well. The class is relatively boring, and is solely notes from powerpoints. All the powerpoints and notes are online, however, most of the class is just remembering things, and come test time (there are 4) the exams are quite difficult, not an easy A or B, do not recommend taking.

David is a bit dry in lecture, especially if physics aren't your thing but he always takes the time to be very clear. Also the exams are very easy despite being open ended questions.

If you're looking for an easy Group D, steer clear. Tests are hard and very complex, it's kind of interesting but a ton to remember. I had to put a lot of effort into doing well on exams (and I never really did that great.) The labs are difficult. If you're not into science and weather, take something else. Legates is a nice guy, though

Not as easy as I originally thought. The Professor was good and all, but the tests weren't as easy as I thought. The exams aren't easy and are more complex than the lectures.

Very basic class, no work what so ever. Just four exams the whole semester that add up to 180 pts. Whatever you get out of 180 is your grade. He does powerpoint presentations every class, and goes fast however, slides are online, just bring your laptop to follow along more easy. Can easy skip class, but i recommend attending.

Since the slides are online, it is easy to want to skip this class. I did so often, but definitely try to go just because it makes you more aware of the material. The textbook is optional, but reading through the chapters once before exams helped. Don't underestimate the material, the exams can definitely be tricky. Study and do the assignments.

Not easy, not too hard either. Make sure you study for the exams. He gives about 10 assign. throughout the semester, which help your grade. Really knows what he's talking about. But definately study for the exams.
