I had Dr. Gutman for 107 after years of Hebrew. Even though this class was more review for me, I loved her teaching style. She is one of then nicest teachers I've ever had. I registered for another one of her classes this semester and I can't wait to take her again! You will love her if you take History, Jewish Studies, or Hebrew! Love you Eynat <3

Had a great time with Professor Gutman! At first, it might be tough to understand what she's looking for in discussions and homework, but once you get it the class is a breeze. She assigns a bunch of readings and even a few movies. The topics were all interesting and she is really passionate about the subjects.

Dr. Gutman is pretty condescending and knows best, just ask her. It takes her 20 minutes just to explain what is for homework. Some people are just not meant to teach... If you want a good grade, take her. If you want to learn, don't. I usually always give the benefit of the doubt to Professors and love most of them, but she is a waste of a prof.

The homework isn't hard, but you have homework most nights. As long as you show up, pay attention, and do the work the class won't be hard. The first month or so of class just focuses on the alphabet, and then you start learning vocab. This is a good option for a language.

Cross-listed with JWST345. Homework is usually a 30 page reading. No textbook. All readings were online. Must write 2 2-3 pages summaries and 1 five minute presentation with a group. Generally easy grader. Participation is essential to passing this class. Mostly discussion.

Easy class, intro level, she is very unorganized though, and a little awkward, but she means well. You learn a lot more than you expect. "text books" are work books so you need them.

I loved this class! Professor Gutman was awesome. She was so nice, so helpful, and so passionate about teaching. She was slow to grade quizzes sometimes, but that is literally my only complaint. I'm excited for 106! :)

Cares about her students and wants them to do well. Lectures are ok, she is not the best communicator. Very interesting material if you like history. Not hard to get an A if you participate and go to class.

if you have any background whatsoever in hebrew, take this class. I read hebrew up until I was 13, and haven't looked at it since this semester and breezed through this class. she's extremely helpful and wants everyone to do well. its not just learning to read though, its conversation too, but she makes it very easy to learn

She's very sweet and wants the class to do well. Class participation is so she can help out if you don't quite get it. She loves questions. The quizzes are easy (though you may want to review a bit, especially if you aren't as familiar with the language). She assigns homework because it drives in the point, but it's never excessive. She's great.

Best Teacher of All Time! I love this class and I look forward to going every day! She is such a great teacher and you can tell how much she loves teaching it! She is extremely helpful! The exams aren't too bad if you study. There is homework almost every night but it normally only takes about 20 minutes. TAKE THIS TEACHER! I want her as my grandma

Dr. Gutman loves teaching hebrew. I took her for 105/106/107. The class size is small so she gets to know you and if very helpful. The most important thing is to attend and participate.

Great lady! She is very sweet, and genuinely wants you to do well. She doesn't expect anyone to have outside knowledge, so she really explains and covers things well. If you stay on top of your work, do the homework (which is very easy) and just review every now and then, definite A. Good class.

Comment:
Shes a little nutty but the class isn't difficult. If you just do the homework which is easy, and study the vocab here and there you'll do fine. If you Hebrew school growing up you will get an A.
