A real pleasure to learn from! Dr. Youé is engaging and makes an otherwise boring subject interesting. I took his course on Historical Methods which is a challenging course required for history major. He managed to keep us amused while enlightening us on methodology and historiography. I attended his last class before retirement. Great professor!

Chris is the king of history professors. Aside from his wicked sense of humour, he's an exceptional communicator, delivers engaging lectures, designs assignments well and makes every student feel welcome in his class and office. I have never had the pleasure of working with a better educator or a finer human being. Thanks for the good times, Chris!

Chris is an engaging, challenging professor who has a knack for presenting complex material in an accessible way. I came out of his class with a better understanding of not only the British empire, but the discipline of history, and in this department, that's frustratingly rare. Warm, welcoming, funny and helpful - highly recommended.

I had the pleasure of taking Chris' courses at Queen's University in the early '80s. Phenomenal prof. Passionate about the material, would go out of his way to help students, very approachable. Sadly, he wasn't tenured there, so Queen's loss, was Memorial's gain. Excellent teacher.

It was 25 years ago Chris taught me at Queen's University, in Kingston, when he was just beginning his teaching career. Wonderful teacher, brought subject to light and made it interesting. Very caring. Took a great deal of interest in his students. Was a real person, not just an academic.

A lovely, warm man who genuinely cares about students. He does everything he can to help and to accommodate, which I greatly appreciated as a graduate student. Very bright, dynamic in his teaching, and has been a fine department head the past number of years. Well liked by his students and I have not heard one bad thing about him. Thank you, Chris.

Great class, takes a while to figure out exactly where the material is going. Youe is an awesome prof, doesnt ask for much work at all (3 short papers and no final), fair marker - avoid the BS and get to the point and you'll be fine. Highly recommended

I don't agree the comment that he's a hard marker. He makes it very clear as to what he wants from the students, and marks objectively. If you can't read his hand writing, he always reads it for you when approached. Work load is equivalent to most other courses. If you are willing to attend class, do what he asks, you'll be fine.

Chris Youe is nice enough prof but is really hard marker. The little feedback he provides is hard to pick out as his writing is atrocious. Also his lectures are not very organized and really hard to pay attention in. Unless you are very interested in history of 20th century I would avoid his class.
