Comment:
This was the hardest class I have ever taken. Professor Goode is an extremely difficult grader. He lectures all class, which normally is not an issue for me, but he does not write anything on the board and is sometimes very hard to follow. I do not recommend this class

I could have stayed home and read the book and learned more than his lectures provided. He will jump from place to place during lecture making it very difficult to understand the point he is trying to get across. Unclear grading criteria on top of being an very hard graded made my grade much lower in the class than it should have been.

I took Goode for 317 and 338. Certainly requires a lot of reading but that is expected for 300 level classes. He does look for specific information but he allows you to be creative. He is very clear if you do the reading, otherwise you will be lost. I found his lectures very interesting and he always had my full attention.

This is the hardest class I've taken at GV so far, but it was also by far the best. Prof Goode is really intelligent and his lectures are really interesting. Be prepared for A LOT OF READING. But if you do the reading, his questions in class aren't as intimidating. Two exams + 1 major paper you have to work for the grade. You'll learn a lot.

I went into this class expecting a decent amount of work, as this is a requirement for my major. Be sure to pay attention to detail (dates and names). Professor Goode is very picky about information. You will need to go above and beyond in order to pass with anything higher than a solid B in the course. If this class isn't required, don't take it.

Great guy in and out of the classroom. Definitely ask questions and answer questions in class or he will pick on you. Do the reading! If you plan on an easy A without reading, don't get your hopes up. Good class, especially if you like reading primary source materials. I learned a lot and enjoyed the challenge.

This is a professor that really knows his stuff! That being said, he skipped around in time periods sometimes, and it felt really confusing at times. The latter half of the class was a lot less confusing. There are only a handful of assignments which is nice, but you're really screwed if you do poorly on more than one. Take time to do the readings!

Very Harsh grader. Alot of reading and quizzes in every class. He adds assignments to the syllabus as he goes along and lecture is a snoozer...I have nothing good to say about him.

Professor Goode knows the material, but does not present it well. I found him very difficult to follow, and his project instructions were very poor. I do not recommend taking this class in the spring/summer due to the hefty work load (~150 pgs of reading per day). As a side note, his grading system is very poor.

The work load in this class was extreme. There was more reading than in any other class i have taken. However Dr. Goode is extremely knowledgeable and is more than willing to help you. However if you dont plan on reading the material there is no point in taking the class. He will easily figure it out and will fail you.

Do not take this in a spr/sum semester. He has a work load that will kill you. He lectures a lot. Take good notes. Read fast. This spr/sum semester was twice a week 3 hrs with 100-150 pages per class. Prof. Goode is pleasant, helpful and a little monotone when lecturing. Not a bad class but take it during regular semesters.

Very straightforward man, good at leading discussions in class. We covered more material than in any other class I've taken and I'm a history major. I also know the stuff well thanks to the tough standards. Very difficult class with probably too much reading but it is worth it if you stick with it.

Took this class because I am a History major and wasn't at all what I expected, the class is more for IR majors. He assigns 100pgs a night and has quizes on them daily. There is no lecture really, every class is almost the same debate the readings and learn everything on your own by doing the readings. I strongly suggest that only IR majors take it

Goode means well and is a really great guy outside of the classroom. Inside, however, he's extremely strict and knows exactly what he wants (which you usually don't know). If you're looking for a slack off class, avoid anything he teaches at all costs. You'll walk away knowledgeable, but your GPA won't be too happy...

LOTS OF READING! Avoid this class unless you are an IR major. He also grades hard. Going into this class, I thought I was interested in history, but he as completely taken that away. Although I learned a lot in the class, it was just too much. 12 pg. research paper, 2 hard essay tests.

This teacher required more work and reading than any teacher I have ever had. He must think that his class is the only class you are taking. You would be hard pressed to keep up with him even if it is the only class you are taking. Stay away!!!

Yes, he is demanding. But you'll leave his class well-informed. Countless classmates tried to do the minimal: and failed. This is college, folks! Ignore those who gave Goode poor grades: they're usually slackers whose opinions aren't legitimates. Only serious students should take him..Dummies, beware.

Very nice man.A little boring. Very helpful though. You need to know your stuff, but this is college, not high-school. If you want to learn at all, you will need to read at some point.
