Hated this class with a passion. She talks too fast and marks way too hard. Thought it was going to be a good class but I was so wrong. Ended up with a D but redid it with a different prof for a B+. Avoid at all costs.

Dr. Lang was honestly an awesome prof, but it was not an easy class. I found that I had to spend a lot of time combing through the extensive notes from class. However, I learned more about history in this class than any other. Also, she gives a wide variety of project topics, which I enjoyed because it allowed me to look at something I liked.

I expected this class to be easy but I was WRONG. Great teacher, really nice. Her lectures are dry/boring and she is a very tough grader. If you don't come to class, you will fail. Expect to be studying hard and memorizing a lot. She talks extremely fast so you will end up with half-written notes. Make friends in that class to compare notes.

For those who are interested in taking a course or two in history: Professor Marjory Lang is a friendly and genuine person who truly cares about her students. She provides class-highlights and exam-outlines for us to "maintain" on track; she posts self-test quizzes every time on D2L. If you wish to "boost" your GPA, she is the go-to person!

I had no knowledge of history and took this class for just credits . Missed alot of classes and didnt knew a word But she is a total sweetheart. Helped me alot when i told her my difficulties. Lectures are long and boring tho. Try to participate in class .

Great teacher. Very friendly, and smart. A lot of the marks were obtainable by effort alone, but the effort does have to be there. She loves lots of research on papers, so when writing your term paper, get info from lots of different sources and it will help you grade. Pro tip: I never used the textbook once

Motivational! Well- spoken and engaging, a rarity in the post-secondary world as of lately. Attend all lectures, reach out for help when you need it and you will succeed. Lectures left me intrigued to further examine a topic, which in my opinion is the mark of a truly exceptional professor. I was never bored to put it more simply ;)

Fantastic teacher who really has a passion for the subject matter. Lectures are filled with information, so be prepared with a good pen or pencil! Does her best to set up students to succeed and engage in the course material. Anyone taking history courses at Langara MUST take a class with her!

Marjory was an excellent teacher and I was happy to have her. She taught with enthusiasm and vigour, and clearly enjoyed the material. She opened the class up to discussion more than some other profs I had, which is certainly welcome in longer lectures. She knows her stuff and teaches it pretty well. I enjoyed her class and I recommend her.

Lang is a fantastic and educated professor. Not only am I excited to take classes with her again next semester, I have been greatly inspired by the sheer knowledge she has to offer. Students do complain that her lectures are boring and monotonous but I beg to differ. If you love history, there is no doubt you will love this class. Work hard, enjoy!

Her lectures are extremely boring, I have never been so bored in a lecture before, I actually have to shut my eyes during the break or I wont make it through. She talks very fast, therefore by the time you are halfway down one point she's already on the next point and you end up with half written notes.

The biggest sweetheart you'll ever meet. So happy whenever you talk to her. Exams are hard though because she has to cover lots of material. The writing assignments are worth a lot so make sure you understand. If you love history then she is your prof.

Dr. Lang is an incredible history prof. Quality at UBC 3+4th year classes is frequently worse than the 1st and 2nd year Langara classes! Lang is inspiring, engaging and helpful! If you want to learn, take her classes! In British hist at UBC and we are learning less material than in Lang's classes (like skimming compared to what she taught)

Wonderful. Deeply engaged in the material, extremely clear and helpful - you really cannot ask for a better prof. Really inspired me to work harder in the course and her lectures are fantastic. Really. She could write the text. You will learn so much in her class and she will support you if you are struggling. I just can't recommend her enough.

Marjorie is an excellent lecturer. Her class is clear and easy to follow and as long as you show up to the lectures and take good notes you should be fine. She provides very clear guidelines for the paper and exams so you know exactly how to prepare. The textbook is meant to be complimentary and very useful for exam preparation.
