Comment:
Much like the wood chips in crown zellerbach I to wish I was dumped into the ocean, after this course. While elman knows his stuff, the way he presents it is a disaster (I write knowing hes doesnt care). Thankfully his employment is considered invalid as he is being severed from the law school. Guess he wasnt as ancillary as he thought.

He is extremely intelligent but he is fully aware of this and is very sassy and arrogant to his students. His constitutional law midterm was a method of torture. Not sure whether he wants to read incomplete exams, or why he would deem 1 hour and 40 minutes acceptable time for us to write the amount he expects. Very happy this is done.

You cannot fully appreciate this professor and his brilliance unless you listen to the class recordings (which yes, means you still have to go to class so you can get them). He is unbelievably intelligent and subtly hilarious (but if you don't listen closely you'll miss it). Must have pre-written preambles for exam qs- where all the marks are.

Comment:
His lecture slides are information dense, and contain about 80% of what he wants in any given answer. You don't need to read before lecture, but you will need the material from the book to get an A - exam fact patterns analogous to cases covered in book and not class. WARNING: All his work must be recompiled and re-organized for exams.

I don't why people like him so much. He's terrible at explaining the materials, is kinda arrogant, and is a REALLY hard marker for someone that doesn't go over the material well. There are way better constitutional prof's than him. I would rate him as the worst from the group.

Expects a lot but seems rather fair. Lectures are pretty good. Once I realized the cans were verbatim his class notes, it was a huge difference. Key to his exam is to make a solid checklist and throw the kitchen sink. He likes that.

Dean is a nice guy, probably the smartest guy I've known. Problem with him is, that it's tough to live up to his expecations. He doesn't make you feel dumb on purpose, its just sorta what ends up happening because of his brilliance. And I found his exam to be a bit too hard to deal with. That means, I studied my ass off, and still found it bad.

brilliant man...expects much but very fair...really takes an interest in his students and their success...as Dean he has been the biggest champion of us students and is tireless in his work on that...very generous and if he says he can't help you or your group with something then you can bet that he has tried everything humanly possible to help
