Comment:
First off, I agree that Prof. Callari's grading is bizarre. I don't feel like my performance in class reflected the grades I received. That said, I do feel like I learned a lot during his lectures and besides his rigorous grading, he is more than fair. Everyone who says he's too hard needs to grow a backbone, thicken their skin, and get tough.

Comment:
Prof. Callari is a tough but incredible lecturer. His course readings and lectures are interesting, but can occasionally be long. He is a tough grader, but as long as you take down extensive notes during his classes, you'll do fine. He is also very helpful during office hours, and is really passionate about the subject.

Comment:
His lectures are just him talking at you for an hour, no powerpoints or writing anything on the board. He also refuses to repeat himself if you ask. It's very hard to keep up and stay focused in this class. He also quizzes you on things that are from other courses which you probably took years ago. There is no textbook so its very hard to study

Prof. Callari is a good professor but you really have to show that you care. If you go to his office hours and show that you are willing to put that extra effort, you will most likely be fine.

Professor Callari's class is very challenging but very rewarding. I have learned more in this class than in any other course. Homeworks and quizzes are designed to reinforce the main concepts, but exams stretch your thinking. I feel extremely well prepared for future courses. If you show him that you care about learning, he will help you a lot.

I know I'm doing this early without actually finishing the class but I'm going to give my first impression. He seems like a really nice guy and a great professor. My only complaint is that he says "right" a lot. I'm kind of surprised no one has said this yet. In 20 minutes he said it 141 times(yes I counted). It's distracting.

Callari is a horrible professor...hes lectures are boring and he is not helpful at all... I went to his offce hours once and he refused to answer my questions, come on what kind of bs is that... I would not recommend taking his class unless you have to, but if you have a choice do not take it you will suffer

I couldn't understand this guy until halfway through the semester. Seriously, for about three weeks of lectures, Callari was covering Say's Law--my notes reflected that he repeatedly said "say slow". . . perhaps I should have been keeping up with the reading?

This professor demands loads of work. At one point our class was writing 4 papers a week, each being 2-3 pages long. He is a very tough grader and treats his students unequally. DO NOT TAKE A CLASS WITH HIM UNLESS YOU HAVE TO.

Most confusing professor I’ve ever had. Class had no structure and he liked to jump from topic to topic with one topic having nothing to do with the other. Half the class dropped by the end of the semester, but he is somewhat helpful if you go and see him. Do not take this class unless you’re a mjor.

Don't take his controversies class unless you're solid on macro/micro. His readings are long, his lectures longer. He's unhelpful and looks down upon those that don't understand from reading or lecture. Instead of 4 exams worth 25% each, the final ended up being 75% of our grade because the class average on exams was of 64%. Otherwise a cool guy.

This was an intro econ. class and we were learning more theory from this marxist socialist than practical applications we need for next level courses. Stick to seminars Callari!

Very friendly and nice guy. The topic - kinda dry and boring though. But he's an easy grader, very few readings, and cool (and a lil weird) sense of humor.
