He talks way too much about stuff that doesn't pertain to class. Of the 3 hour labs, the first 100 min are him talking without adding much, just bloviating. In his lectures he spends the first 20 min talking about last nights homework, 10 on the actual lecture, and 30 on tonights homework. Homework every day, very heavy tests, very harsh grader.

There are a lot of ways to get an A in this class. But, his lectures are incomprehensible and seems like he is constantly degrading math and other science fields. It would be best to try to learn this on your own instead of listening to the lectures. Homework is due every day. And a lab report at the end of the week.

Johnson is the MAN. Calc physics is a really hard class, but he's such a great teacher that it's entirely worth it. He's smart, hilarious, helpful, and I have so much respect for him. He really taught me a lot about life, and definitely whipped my work ethic into shape. I owe him my life for that. He's also incredibly entertaining while he teaches

Dr. Johnson is my favorite professor of all time. I've never met someone so passionate and knowledgeable about anything. I can honestly say he is the smartest man I have ever met in my entire life. He will make you work hard for a decent grade. As long as you show up to lectures and put forth an honest effort, you'll be alright.

Nice guy and is willing to help you if you ever have questions. He talks a lot about stuff that doesn't always pertain to class material which is annoying at times when you only have an hour of lecture most days. The class has a ton of work but if you have the time to sit down and do it, you'll be just fine.

Took Johnson for Ph 245/246 which is GVSU PHY 230/231 equivalent. I think he is pretty good. 4-7 homework problems every night due the next day. 2-3 hour lab report due every week. 3 Exams. 1 Final. Quiz every Thursday. Lots of work but I think I had an easier time compared to horror stories from GVSU. Tells you whats on exams/quizzes/final.

Nice guy, but impossible to follow. Rushes through every lecture, spends two minutes on how to do the homework. Expects you to memorize everything instantly. 3+ hrs of homework every night & 5+ hrs weekly on lab reports. Homework impossible, brutal tests, Tutor Lab is worthless. If you have other classes or a job, you will fail.

This class was an unbelievable grind. Calc physics 4 Days a week. That being said I can't imagine a better professor. At the end of the day all you do in a physics class is watch the prof do problems and try to copy their method on homework and tests. Johnson has refined this model over 4o years of teaching. Get it while you can. He is 70 after all

Unfortunately, Dr. Johnson is a mere mortal. He's' been teaching for 38 yrs now and will be retiring soon. I wish more students got the opportunity to take Calculus-based Physics with him because he is the type of prof to change your views on everything. I have him to thank for instilling both a tireless work ethic in me and love of physics.

Honestly, I'm was not sure what to think about him at first. He was a weird guy at first but you'll find out thats just the way he is. He is extremely honest with students about how they are doing and what they need to do, and his lectures are interesting and hysterical. He will prepare you for "the big U" and youll fall in love with this guy. :)

Dr. Johnson is my favorite professor so far. Ive taken many science courses and no one can surpass his clarity and experience in the field. He's got an awesome sense of humor and made physics fun to learn. You won't find a better physics professor at any other university.

Johnson will make you laugh and teach you in ways that you've never thought of before. This class is difficult to keep on top of; I would reccommend taking him when you are serious. If you do all of the homework, you'll more than pass. He gives extremely good study guides and causes great study habits. Take him if you want to learn.

Great professor! He makes things very clear in class, and if you need to miss something, he's very helpful in helping you catch back up. However, getting an A in his class isn't easy, and requires good study habits. I recommend Johnson to any student willing to work hard who is interested in Calculus Physics!

Great professor, but don't expect an "easy A". His classes offer a tremendous workload on two not so easy topics. He can be offensive if you take it that way but he's just being facetious.

Good, goofy prof for a hard class. He has been teaching the class for 40 years, so he has a very refined teaching style. Returns coursework quickly, gives lots of extra credit, and does fun, entertaining demos that destroy the classroom :). You will work your tail off in this class to get a good grade, so might as well take him!

He's insulting towards students, and he's incapable of answering questions. Each day he talks about how useless physics is (its a calculus based physics class). I feel like he is trying to brainwash me into hating science. I do not recommend him at all. The subject matter is difficult, but his grading policies are overly easy with loads of EC.

Best teacher i've ever had at GRCC. Easily captures your attention, doesn't make it a necessity to show your work because he recognizes some people can do it in their head easier. Explains things with enthusiasm, knows his stuff extremely.
