When I took ENGL 110, I hated modernism with a passion. However, Lobb has bred a love for the material in me. His analysis is very thorough and insightful and he presents everything very clearly. Always apt to pop the odd joke, Lobb more importantly gets you to think about reevaluating your life (in a good way). This is simply a must-take course.

My favourite prof over four years at Queen's. Witty, engaging and intelligent, his analysis of literature is interesting and he inspires students to question their own philosophical beliefs. His lectures are clear, defined and articulate.

Absolutely the best professor in the English Department. He renewed my love of literature and inspired a passion for learning. Lectures were a joy, heightened by his dry wit, freedom to speak his mind and ability to call out pretentious students. Take any of his courses and you will not be disappointed.

Brilliant professor. Wonderful lectures, inspiring comments and extremely calm (yet wise) disposition. In fact, the main reason I am still continuing in my English studies. Absolutely phenomenal.

He was a fantastic teacher and one whom I will always remember fondly. He was always helpful, kind and thoughtful and the classes were always fascinating. I agree, if you didn't like him I suspect your grammar wasn't great.

Comment:
His lectures were very boring and repetative. He had no enthusiasm and I felt as if he had done the lecture so many times before that he was bored with it. The worst thing was that you had to put up with his lectures to do half decent in the class because most of what was required came straight from the notes. He was not enjoyable at all.

How could anyone not love this class? I love this man, and I hope he teaches forever. Best class I've ever been in. Looked forward to it every week. I never believed I could enjoy studying James Joyce, but lo and behold I was wrong.

Wow, amazing lecturer. Never had so many notes. Yes, he's pompous, but when he's that intelligent, went to Princeton, been on Jeopardy, nominated for best lecturer- it's hard not to be. Yes, the his grammar rules are tough, but hey it cured me of the comma slice for life! So I'm thanksful!
