Comment:
Professor Milner wants his students to do well in his course. Unfortunately his notes are all over the place and he gets off-track way too much, making in unclear what will be on the tests and what is just interesting. The tests are pretty difficult, I made the mistake of noting definitions over events, which brought my mark down significantly.

Milner is a very interesting lecturer because of his personality, but he is also unstructured and hard to follow. My notes were scattered when trying to study. The marking was incredibly difficult! There were only three written tests, no essays. So if testing isn't your thing, stay away from this course. The 1000 lvl is meaningless for this course!

This class had to be the worst history experience of my academic career. I was told that my writing on the tests was to advanced and that they were looking for regurgitation. The marking was extremely difficult and the class avg was lower than C+. DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE IF YOU ARE IN FIRST YEAR. It will hurt your GPA. He also doesnt answer emails.

I really enjoyed him. He's very funny and makes the course interesting. He definitely knows his material especially the military. His courses are a little unorganized, and he quotes too many people but all around good prof. I'd definitely take him again and recommend him to someone is interested in History.

Has a lot of interest in the subject matter, but his lectures have little structure; they are very unorganized and often difficult to follow. He changed the layout of the final exam without telling anyone.

A good teacher and a great person. VERY intelligent. Chooses excellent readings, but there are a lot. He makes things clear, even if you don't come from a military history background. He is fun to listen to but his discussions aren't well run. If you want to take military history take it from him.

Excellent professor. When I had him for a first-year course three years ago I found him a hard marker, but now I can appreciate his fairness. Absolutely hilarious, really knows his stuff. He loves the navy, so be careful if you ever write a paper about it.

If this man leads the Fredericton regiment against Oromocto, I will stand by his side, assured of our victory. Seriously though, this guy is great. Clever, intelligent, funny and slightly morbid. He studies war specifically because he wonders why the **** people do this stuff. My classnotes felt like they were from war games. :)

Yes, easily one of UNB's all-time greats. Even though it's an 8:30 class, it's worth taking as an elective.
