NO clear grading criteria what so ever. He legit confessed to grading students however he likes when he was questioned. You can get a 90 something and still land a C, has his "own" ranking system but can't explain it. Not to mention he is super disrespectful toward students. No idea why he is a professor at all. Talk big and throws a lot of crap.

Pay attention: 1. Attendance is mandatory. Worth 10% 2. There's a page paper you gotta write. Worth 10% 3. Midterm (35 MC) worth 35% 4. Final (45 MC) worth 45% He allows a cheat sheet on the exams. Get those Testbanks. That's all you'll need. Nothing he talks about is on the exams. He curves at the end. Go get that "A."

Avoid at all costs. I was always an A student in finance courses and this class is ridiculously difficult for no reason. I had an A in fin 3710, so I know my stuff and this class is like a gamble, guess and hope you do well

If you don't like a high GPA, take him. 1 paper due 2-3rd week of class, 1 midterm with 35Q, 1 final with 45Q. Exams extremely hard. Final is cumulative. Doesn't allow cheatsheet. Funny but that doesn't mean anything for your future. Have to sign in for attendance or he will give you a 0/10 for class participation.

Avoid taking him at all cost! One of the worst professors I have ever taken. He doesnt teach anything in class and has a ridiculous grading curve. Like people have said before, one test question can cost you a letter grade. Tests are hard and his teaching notes are useless

The curve in this class is ridiculous. 10 points for attendance, 10 for two page term paper, 35 point midterm &45 point final. one question wrong can mean moving from a B to a B-. Everything is self taught. Dont get me wrong, Francis is funny and intelligent but nothing he covers in the teaching notes ends up being on the exam. would not take again

The smartest professor ever, although it is a tough class that he tries to cover everything. There's just not enough time. He cares about his students also, even though the semester has over. I have been questioning the real world finance to him lately, and he explains them one by one to me. If you want to success in real world finance, TAKE HIM!!!

Unbelievable, unbelievable! Don't take this class. Seriously, we had to subscribe to the WSJ, then at the end buy his book. He tested us on problems he never covered in class. He only talks and put people down.

This guy is tricky. He'd tell you one thing then do another. He changes his own life stories every two seconds, so it's hard to trust him. Avoid, avoid, avoid.

He's more of a research professor. Exam questions are from his teaching notes, and doable problems from the textbook. He's has tons of experience and knowledge about the financial market, so it's highly recommended that you attend his lecture.

Uses his own teaching notes which are well written & easy to read unlike the annoyingly wordy book. Often shares his experiences & isn't afraid to voice his opinion on politics. I learned more from him than in any other fin class at Baruch. Not an easy class by any stretch but if u read the book chptrs, review his notes & study hard you'll do well

Prof. Francis is a character, but in a good way. Unfiltered, always speaks his mind and regularly goes off on mostly hilarious tangents. Attendance is not mandatory but you wouldn't want to skip it anyway. Great in-class experience. You will have to work hard for an A, but either way will learn a ton. Material is interesting & real life relevant

This guys is a Dinosaur. Genuinely a very nice guy. He will teach you a lot about the markets and even more about politics. Likes to go off on tangents and speak about unrelated topics. You will learn a lot from him about many things. Read the textbook, and his handouts. What is said in class has very little bearing on the exams.

Very knowledgeable, doesn't teach by the book and explains everything from his own experience, which makes it much more interesting and allows you to relate it to the real world. Very funny as well. Definitely, one of the best experiences at Baruch
