So rude. Sent her a kind email about missing a lab and got an email back with no hello or sign off and sent from her iphone. Incoherent and misspelled just like the lab manual. She didn't understand why I thought section A students couldn't make up a lab in section B. It's written in the lab manual! Such disrespect, its crazy. Avoid her!

After taking three labs run by her, Cheryl Duxbury is one of the worst individuals I've experienced so far in university. I've barely met her in person, but the couple times I have have been nightmares and her self-importance, passive-aggressiveness, and lack of caring toward her students come across clearly in every possible aspect of her courses.

She is arrogant and condescending, don't bother asking for help or clarification, lab manual has so many errors and she doesn't even care to correct them before printing, she really needs an anger management course or taught how to teach and be kind to students. She is the absolute worst. Dragana is an angel compared to her

If you do not have to take a class with her please don't. She is very arrogant, made gerontology harder than it had to be, has anger management issues and will quickly yell at students in class, a 4th grader has better grammatical structure when it comes to her lectures and posts. She is an all around horrible person, beware and stay away!!!

One of the RUDEST professors I've ever encountered at the University of Waterloo. She is condescending and disrespectful. Will easily get angry at students when they reach out for help, questions, or even to pick up lab reports. Even her TAs dread talking to her. Her lab manual is riddled with mistakes and has obviously not been edited. Avoid!

Her lab manuals contain a lot of mistakes, so watch out for those! If you were thinking of asking her questions in office hours, you're better off not doing so, as she will only put you down and be rude. Biggest advice: Try taking the lab component with another instructor.

Literally says "More often than not" in every sentence. LONG exams and you have to write exactly what she's looking for or you're not going to get the marks you believe you want and when you talk to her about it she'll be rude about everything. Rude during exams too. If you're going to ask a question get ready to hear "you should know this"

Duxbury is a fair marker even though the exams are way too long. She is enthusiastic in class though her slides are disorganized. She is very caring BUT very unapproachable. Always responds very defensively if you ask her anything. Still easy to get a good mark as long as you write what's on her slides word for word on the exams.

Very rude, not helpful. Her course I had to teach myself which itself was informative, but she was not encouraging. Went to her office once to ask for a lab section change and she kept telling me how much of a favour she was doing me, felt like I was being talked down to constantly. Also her quizzies/exam are have irrelevant questions, no thought.

It was her first time teaching this course, and she did the best she could. The course was a little difficult to follow, with a long final but it was doable. The labs are chill, but study for the quizzes as they are difficult and did bring people's marks down. She'll probably change the course next year.

I've had duxbury for multiple courses and she's been nothing but amazing to me. I go to her office hours and ask questions she's always willing to help. This class is fairly straight forward with the assignments and the exam. As long as you keep on top of everything you'll get a great mark! She marks fairly!

From the little interaction that I had with her, she seemed like a heartless women. The tests also test on quite irrelevant material in my opinion; they mostly focus on small details that could easily be looked, rather than probing understanding of overarching concepts (finished with 90 in the class, so not complaining b/c I did bad).

She was the lab coordinator for many labs. Cheryl is a smart woman, but she is very cold when dealing with people and even as a 4th year I was intimidated by her to the point were I would not approach her to get questions answered. She has very strict marking standards, and once you understand what is expected of you it is easy to get good marks.

Lectures are well structured and she couldn't be any more passionate about the material which is always motivating. She is also VERY supportive of those who participate in class. She could be more respectful and calm when you visit her office hours.

Comment:
Cheryl is an intimidating woman. She comes off as loud and rude. Her class wasn't too difficult but her lecture slides are packed with information. She tends to go in circles while talking in lecture which makes it hard to follow and a bit confusing. Not a terrible prof, but be warned.
