Chang knows his stuff. His accent is thick, but you acclimate to it after a week. If you ask him to repeat something, he will. If you ask for help, he gives it. He is easily the most knowledgeable psych prof YCP has. He is difficult, but if you take notes and read, you'll be fine. When you get a B in his class, it's great because you've earned it.

Do not take this class! Bad professor! He does not teach and puts up homework ?s that is your study guide. His tests are somewhat hard. I would not take him ever again! He was the worst professor I have had so far!

Dr. Chang is a brilliant, brilliant man. He knows everything there is to know about the topic he teaches (biopsychology), he just has a hard time communicating, which unfortuneately, is very bad for not only him, but the class as well. He is always willing to help, it is just so convoluted you can't figure anything out.

Boring, hard to follow. I ended up looking at the review sheets and then having to read through entire chapters in order to memorize information needed for tests. Good Luck if you choose to take him, get ready to memorize the text and learn nothing from him. Get out while you can. Not kidding.

Prior to taking his GenPsych Class I read a lot of the previous ratings, but took him anyway. He does have a thick accent but give it some time & you'll catch on. He goes off on a lot of tangents. Take notes on the lectures and read the syllabus for other assignments. Study for your tests and you should be fine.

Extremely intelligent and insightful professor. He has very different logic than most but once you understand it is amazing. He has a better understanding of biological and neuroscience based psych than anyone I've encountered.

Had him for general psych. I learned more in high school then I did with him. He warns you the first day that he can't see well, can't hear well and he can't spell. You have to read the book and teach yourself. Many students in my class dropped and moved to a different teacher after 1 week. I would never take him again.

Terrible. I know that u cant blame him for having a thick accent, but u can barely understand him and hes dyslexic. he changes his mind about assignments and doesnt tell u about a test until a few days before. the only good thing is that his tests arent bad if u study the homework and his lectures(even tho they usually have nothing to do w/ psych)

Comment:
The most disorganized, incoherant teacher I've ever had. Tests were unfairly difficult, considering the lack of instruction on a such a detailed subject and absence of useful feedback on papers. Attending class is a waste of time. Study the textbook until you know it by heart--it's your only reliable source of instruction in a class like this.

He knows about sensation and perception, but doesn't know how to relate it back to his students. He really doesn't teach what's on his tests and claims, "That's college."

I have had Chang for several classes, and am his advisee. Anyone who took the Evo Psy class can attest to the fact that Chang is the best professor of all time. He is very smart and he is probly your best chance to do any meaningful psy. research. Not a great advisor and shows a lot of favoritism, but kiss ass and he's ur ticket into grad school.

The work load was not a 100 level class. I should have run out of the class after the first day like 20% of the class did. He didn't grade our homework until he graded the tests and I would be studing the wrong concepts. I never knew if his tangents were his opinion or study material

He's hard to understand, so if you don't get him, don't worry, in two weeks time, you'll understand what he's saying. He's got some wierd ideas, but he usually backs them up, and classes always seem to have some interesting discussion. Go Dr. Chang.

I really enjoyed this class! He offered challenging thought-provoking questions in class that really cause you to question what you assume to be true about drugs. His class was probably very difficult for those who don't study or sleep during class. He's a great office professor as well. Be prepared to study a lot for the 2nd test!
